Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh (Faculty of Literature) receives his retirement certificate.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh was born on June 18, 1951, in Ha Tinh province. He was the former Head of the Faculty of Literature from 1996 to 2000. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh was a student of the Class 14 of the Faculty of Linguistics and Literature, Hanoi University (in 1969). From 1972 to 1976, along with many faculty and students of Hanoi University in the "putting aside pens and books to fight against the Americans" movement, the then student Nguyen Ba Thanh became a soldier in the Air Defense - Air Force Command. After the country was unified, he returned to the University to study and was retained as a lecturer. He has been associated with the Faculty and the University for 44 years, serving as a senior lecturer in modern Vietnamese literature. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh also served as the Director of the Hanoi National University Publishing House (2006-2009).

On behalf of the School's Board of Directors, Professor Pham Quang Minh presented the retirement certificate to Associate Professor Nguyen Ba Thanh. Professor Pham Quang Minh congratulated Professor Nguyen Ba Thanh on completing his term of service and retiring according to the State's regulations. The Rector shared his deep impressions of Associate Professor Nguyen Ba Thanh's dedication and concerns during his time as Head of the Faculty of Literature. The generation of professors has become an important link in the development of the Faculty and the School, a source of pride and spiritual support for future generations of lecturers and students. The School hopes that the professors will continue to participate in advising and contributing to professional work as well as the activities of the School's Retired Faculty Association.

Leaders and lecturers from many generations of the Faculty of Literature shared many memories and fond feelings about Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh, expressing their gratitude for his contributions during his more than 40 years of service at the Faculty. He is a shining example for the younger generations of faculty members in the Faculty of integrity, determination to overcome difficulties, and a constant concern for nurturing and guiding the younger generation. Having survived the hardships of war, he continued to teach in Cambodia in 1986, and later, as Head of the Faculty, he made a significant mark on the development of the Faculty and the University during a period of difficult and challenging transition; he was a pioneer in promoting new fields of study such as Korean Studies... Some of Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh's notable works include: A Panorama of Vietnamese Poetry, Vietnamese Culture in its Relationship with World Culture, The Journey of Poetry... Although retired, he is still actively involved in many professional activities within the Faculty.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh was deeply moved during the meeting and upon receiving his retirement certificate. He shared that exactly 48 years ago today, he boarded a train to Hanoi to enroll at Hanoi University. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ba Thanh expressed his gratitude for the heartfelt words, precious sentiments, and kind recognition from the University and the Faculty of Literature during this meeting. For him, the tasks have been completed, many aspirations have been fulfilled, and his mood is light and relaxed. Along with the complete joy of being with his family, he will always be ready to participate in the activities of the Faculty and the University.
