Educational objectives/program objectives:
The undergraduate program in journalism trains bachelors with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to work in the field of journalism and communication; capable of performing work requirements on various types of journalism and communication in the digital age, in the context of international integration and globalization; capable of researching and teaching on journalism and communication issues at universities, research institutions, etc.
After the course, students have the capacity to work at press agencies, media agencies, political and social organizations, etc., and are able to continue studying, participate in higher education, and accumulate experience to become leaders and experts in the field of journalism and communication.

Students understand and apply the knowledge and methodology of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought, have a dialectical materialist outlook on life and world, have political awareness and a firm class stance. Students understand and demonstrate their awareness of the foundations of social sciences and humanities, especially the fields of political science, psychology, sociology, history and economics. - Understand the role of social sciences and humanities in social life, especially in the digital age, integration and globalization. Understand and be aware of the social, legal and ethical responsibilities of journalists - socio-political activists. - Understand the requirements for accuracy, fairness and honesty in communication activities and apply these requirements in the process of journalism. Have the ability to perceive and apply the difference between reality and evaluation point of view. - Understand the roles and relationships between individuals in the media production process. - Demonstrate the ability to think critically, creatively and independently when evaluating and assessing news; the ability to organize and present information in the form of articles in different types of journalism (print, radio, television, public relations, etc.). - Master basic knowledge of elements and principles in designing and presenting printed newspapers, websites, or building an entire PT-TH program. Have basic skills in using technical means and new technologies in mass communication activities, demonstrate adaptability in a multimedia and digital professional working environment; - Have the skills to proficiently use video cameras, cameras, recorders..., use information processing software at a basic level.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze information by methods such as interviewing, observing, collecting original documents or secondary documents proficiently. Have basic ability in independent investigation and information search, organize independent interviews to collect, analyze, organize, and synthesize information (written, images, data) for a certain topic.

Journalism graduates are capable of performing the duties of reporters and editors at newspapers, magazines, news agencies, radio stations, television stations, working as researchers and lecturers at training and scientific research institutions on journalism and mass communication, working as functional staff in agencies leading and managing press information or performing duties that require systematic and basic understanding of journalism theory and professional skills, working as specialists at media companies, working as media staff, public relations (PR)... Journalism graduates also have the ability to adapt widely to be able to perform duties at agencies and units related to journalism and mass communication such as cultural and ideological agencies, social advocacy agencies and organizations, general information departments of agencies, units, political and social organizations, companies, groups, corporations, economic and commercial enterprises. trade, services, domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations...
Ability to learn and improve after graduation
Bachelors of Journalism can participate in master's degree programs in Journalism, Public Relations, and other related majors and suitable majors in the system of majors currently allowed to be trained by the Ministry of Education and Training. In some exceptional cases, they can continue to study for a doctorate if they meet the requirements according to the training regulations.

2. Instructions for implementing the training program
- General knowledge block in VNU, general knowledge block by field, by major, by group of majors first, knowledge block of majors later. However, some subjects of the major knowledge block can be arranged right in the first semesters (eg: Subjects focusing on practicing skills) because these subjects are relatively simple, and have the effect of creating career interest for students.
- Regarding the subjects of Physical Education and National Defense Education: In addition to theoretical content, practical content can be organized in a centralized manner to suit the school's facilities.
- Foreign languages A1, A2, B1 have a duration of 14 credits in the general knowledge block prescribed by VNU. Students can choose one of four foreign languages: English, French, Russian, Chinese according to their learning ability. Studying beyond or exempting from foreign languages at different levels will be carried out according to the training regulations of VNU and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. After completing this basic English program, students will be encouraged toself-studymore to better meet the needs of society after graduation.
- Courses with prerequisites can only be taken after the prerequisites of that course.
For highly practical subjects in the fields of print journalism, radio, television, and electronic journalism, the class will be divided into groups (less than 30 students/group) to practice using equipment and producing media products at the Center for Journalism and Communication (building H).

- Professional internship: Can be organized in the summer semester of the second or third year.
- Graduation internship: Can be organized in the summer semester of the third year or in semester 7 (final year).
- Graduation thesis or elective subject replacing graduation thesis: Based on the ability and number of lecturers inside and outside the Faculty, students with good academic performance (ranked from high to low in terms of academic results) will be allowed to do graduation thesis under the guidance of the lecturer. The remaining students can choose 2 supplementary subjects in the major and supplementary knowledge block (M5, section V.2) to study instead of doing graduation thesis. Students who are required to do graduation thesis can apply for permission to study the alternative graduation subject with the consent of the supervisor.
- Subjects are evaluated based on students' classroom activities (study spirit, speaking in discussion hours, lesson preparation...) and the results of mid-term and final exams (in the form of multiple choice tests, essays, essays, group assignments/media products...). Scores are graded on a 10-point scale, and the School's training department will convert to another scoring system to comply with training regulations.
- Lecturers: Participating in teaching are permanent staff of the Faculty and the School, combined with inviting part-time lecturers (with contracts with the School), guest lecturers (with contracts with the Faculty). Part-time lecturers are selected based on the following main criteria: qualifications, practical experience, pedagogical capacity, professional ethics...
