Vice Principal Hoang Anh Tuan received Prof. Mitsunari Miho (Nara Women's University, Japan)

On March 2, 2018, Vice President Hoang Anh Tuan received Prof. Mitsunari Miho (Vice President of Nara Women's University, Japan) to discuss cooperation prospects between the two schools.

Prof. Mitsunari Miho is a Japanese expert who taught at the Department of Japanese Studies of the University on “Gender Studies in Japan” in the 2017-2018 academic year. This is an activity under the project “Special Lecture on Japanese Studies” at the Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, sponsored by the Japan Foundation for Cultural Exchange (2006 to present).

She is a researcher on world history from the perspective of gender, LGBTI rights protection, comparative legal culture of family and gender. She is also a member of the following research groups: Science Council of Japan, Gender Law Research Society, Japan Gender Research Society, Gender History Research Society, and Comparative Family History Research Society.

At the reception, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan thanked Professor Mitsunari Miho and his Japanese colleagues for their attention and participation in teaching students majoring in Japanese Studies, as well as contributing to promoting the development of Japanese Studies at the School.

The Vice Principal also shared: Over the past decade, the staff of the Department has made great efforts to develop the unit into one of the leading prestigious Japanese studies research and training institutions in Vietnam and at the same time a place to provide in-depth advice to all levels and sectors on issues related to Japan. Students majoring in Japanese studies are welcomed in the labor market. The Department has a diverse system of documents serving research and teaching on Japanese studies and regularly organizes seminars, research projects and publishes specialized books on Japanese studies every year.

From the specialized lectures on Gender by Japanese experts, the school leaders expressed their hope that the two sides could cooperate to compile and publish specialized textbooks on this content. In addition, Japanese and Vietnamese experts could cooperate to exchange experiences in Gender research from a comparative perspective.

Prof. Mitsunari Miho thanked the Department of Japanese Studies and the University for their warm welcome. She also shared about her ongoing research project on “Gender from an Asian Perspective” and said that it is entirely possible to develop cooperation between the two sides on the above topic.

In addition, Nara Women's University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are two universities with strengths in social sciences and humanities research, so in addition to cooperating in research on Gender and Japanese Studies, the two universities will explore ways to further promote cooperation activities on a larger scale and in many other fields of study.
