Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (Head of Training Department, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Dr. Nguyen Kieu Oanh (Deputy Head of Personnel and Organization Department, Vietnam National University, Hanoi)

Representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies reported on the preparations for the enrollment and training of the Southeast Asian Studies program. Accordingly, the full-time faculty participating in the training includes 10 staff members, comprising 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 7 Doctors, and 1 Master. In addition, the Faculty has invited lecturers from the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities) and experts from universities abroad.

Regarding learning materials, the Faculty has access to the general library system of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the library of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, and the Southeast Asian Studies Department's book collection with over 300 books and reference materials. Required and reference materials for courses within the various fields of study, groups of disciplines, and specializations have been fully prepared in these library systems.

Dr. Ho Thi Thanh (Department of Southeast Asian Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies) presented a report on the preparations for the student recruitment process.

The Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Department of Southeast Asian Studies continue to expand cooperation with institutes, research centers, and universities both domestically and internationally, as well as embassies, to enhance opportunities for student exchange, provide scholarships, invite volunteer lecturers, and develop materials for the Southeast Asian Studies program. In the near future, the Faculty of Oriental Studies plans to collaborate with various organizations to hold several seminars, discussions, and events to introduce Southeast Asian Studies to a wider audience.

The delegation from Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) highly appreciated the preparation and practical conditions for implementing the Southeast Asian Studies program at the University and predicted that in the near future, this will be one of the most attractive majors for applicants to VNU. In particular, the context of expanding cooperation and development between Vietnam and countries in the Southeast Asian region, as well as the increasingly prominent position of ASEAN, will lead to a growing demand for jobs for graduates in Southeast Asian Studies.

Representatives from the functional departments of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) also expressed their hope that the Faculty and the University would strengthen collaboration with domestic and international partners, especially by combining resources with units within VNU to serve the development of this field of study, creating a unique mark in Southeast Asian Studies training at VNU. In addition, the Faculty needs to identify key research directions in Southeast Asian Studies linked to training activities, aiming to build strong research groups at the VNU level in research fields related to Southeast Asian Studies.
