PR people always have the opportunity to learn and update new things in the vibrant flow of life while having rich social relationships, an emotional and sublime spiritual life.
"PR people are masters of creativity"
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen - Head of the Department of PR-Advertising, Institute of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU said that Public Relations (also known as Public Relation) is understood as management activities to support agencies, organizations, businesses... to build communication strategies to approach and build relationships with the public and their customers.
Professional PR profession has appeared in the world since the beginning of the 20th century with the development of the market economy, but in Vietnam, this is still a new profession.
PR staff are always admired because they are dynamic, flexible; have good social communication skills; understand the organization and clearly grasp the characteristics of the public/customers that their unit is targeting.
For customers, they are the representative face, the bridge, bringing the most authentic and attractive messages from the organization. For the internal unit, they create connections between members, promote information exchange, transmit inspiration and positive energy in work, build love and dedication for the organization.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen said that when talking about the PR profession, people mention keywords such as science and art.
No communication campaign is implemented or any communication message is built without careful research on the needs, desires, emotions and trends of the business's key customers/audiences.
All stages of communication activities always need to be tight, accurate, logical, and consistent with a common goal of conveying the correct spirit of the organization's message.
The scientific nature is also reflected in the fact that from the core values of the organization down to the value definition of each product and service, there must be a logical connection. The messages defined in each product and each specific service stage must be in a unified way of thinking that reflects the development strategy and brand positioning of the company at a macro level.
"PR people are masters of creativity" - Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen emphasized. There is no room for old things or self-repetition in PR. Media stories must always be fresh, creative, keep up with current issues or anticipate social trends, and at the same time have humanistic values.
The art of PR is that in order to convey a message to the public, PR professionals must find many unique ways to attract their attention, follow-up and support.
What is the core of a successful PR professional? What value does the PR profession bring after days and nights of exhausting effort for a unique, different creative idea or the hardships and pressures of running a promotional campaign for a new product entering the market?
Answering these questions, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen said that a good PR person always needs to have a sincere heart, wanting to do the best for both the organization and the public.
The rewards for them will always be worthy when they achieve their set goals, and especially the feeling of satisfaction when they always experience freshness, breakthroughs, and differences in their careers so that they never find work boring.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen said that this is a difficult profession, requiring comprehensive thinking and sensitivity that belong to the qualities and efforts of each individual. But this is also a profession that anyone who falls in love with will find it very difficult to give up. Because what PR brings to those who dare to commit to the profession is extremely valuable.
PR people always have the opportunity to learn and update new things in the vibrant flow of life while having rich social relationships, an emotional and sublime spiritual life.
Bustling recruitment market
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen said that the current job positions in the labor market for students majoring in Public Relations are very diverse and attractive, such as: in charge of press relations, community relations; event organization, internal communication; assistant in analyzing and reporting on the internal and external media environment; assistant in building and implementing communication strategies in business; brand development specialist; corporate communication management consultant; researcher in communication, journalism; teaching journalism and communication...
In the present and future, information is the flow that connects individuals, communities, and social sectors. The trend of cooperation and integration in a flat world makes the need for interaction and communication to understand each other increasingly stronger.
The birth of the Internet, social networks Facebook, Twitter, Youtube has quickly dominated people's lives and made communication activities explode more than ever.
Although the public relations (communications) profession in Vietnam is still young, it has a growth rate of no less than 30%/year due to the constantly increasing demand of businesses and units.
According to a report by the multinational consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, Vietnam is home to the world’s fastest growing media market in recent times. Between 2004 and 2009 alone, the value of the industry tripled.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen commented: It is not difficult for graduates of Public Relations with more than 1 year of working experience to achieve a salary of 15-20 million VND/month and even higher if working in foreign enterprises or multinational companies.
Not to mention the increasingly specialized positions in the communications field such as crisis management consulting, government communications, interpersonal communications, brand communications, marketing communications, digital content creation and management, event organization... the income is much higher.
"Currently, many employers continuously offer to introduce graduates with attractive salaries, which we cannot meet because most of the third-year students already have stable jobs.
About half of the students try to shorten their training time to only 3.5 years to quickly graduate and go to work. The PR industry's labor market will certainly become more and more vibrant and full of opportunities in the future" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen shared.
