The magazine was launched.
On May 16, 2015, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued a Decision establishing the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (JOSSH). According to the Decision, JOSSH was authorized to publish 6 issues per year, including 5 in Vietnamese and 1 in English. From 2016 onwards, JOSSH will publish 4 issues in Vietnamese and 2 issues in English annually. Each issue has a maximum length of 200 pages and a circulation of 500 copies (from April 2016 onwards, the circulation has been 400 copies).
Mission and Vision
Mission:JOSSH is an academic exchange forum that showcases new and high-quality scientific research results in the social sciences and humanities both domestically and internationally, serving the cause of national construction and development, and promoting international integration in the context of globalization.
Vision:By 2030, JOSSH will meet international standards listed in the SCOPUS or ISI catalog.
Target
The goal is to build JOSSH into a leading Vietnamese journal, listed in prestigious international journal databases (SCOPUS and ISI), considering novelty, integrity, objectivity, and creativity as core operating principles, contributing to the nation's development in the context of international integration.

Staff
The JOSSH Editorial Board comprises 37 members, including 31 Vietnamese social science and humanities scholars and 6 leading Vietnam studies scholars from the United States, Australia, Japan, France, and Denmark. In addition to the Editorial Board, the JOSSH staff includes: Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Editor-in-Chief; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Quan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Head of Editorial Board; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Viet Nghia, Head of Administration; Mr. Phan Van Kien, Deputy Head of Editorial Board; Mr. Tran Xuan Hung, Vietnamese Editor; Ms. Vu Thi Binh Minh and Etienne Mahler, English Editors; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, Administrative Officer.
Activities and achievements
From 2015 to 2018, JOSSH received 623 papers from domestic and international scientists. Of these, 28 were from foreign scientists, accounting for 4.49% (3 in Vietnamese and 25 in English); 20 of these 28 papers were published, representing 71.42%. The number of papers from domestic scientists was 595, accounting for 95.51%. Of these, 321 were published, representing 51.52%. 227 papers were rejected by peer reviewers, representing 36.43%. 75 papers were withdrawn, rejected by the journal, or are currently under peer review, representing 12.05%.
Out of a total of 623 submissions to the journal: 599 were research papers or discussion articles, accounting for 96.14%; 14 were book reviews, accounting for 2.24%; and 10 were scientific information articles, accounting for 1.6%. JOSSH has published 28 issues. The total number of pages in all published issues is 3896 pages. The total number of copies printed is 10,700.
JOSSH has been sent to the Vietnam Study Group; units within the university, VNU, other universities; major libraries; research centers; research institutes; and journals related to social sciences and humanities in Vietnam and several other countries.
The magazine's website is built using the open-source Open Journal Management system, located at:http://journal.ussh.vnu.edu.vnJOSSH's articles have been listed in the citation systems of Crossref (DOI), Google Scholars, Worldcat, Openarchives, and EBSCOHOST.
JOSSH has been accepted by the State Council for Professor Titles to be included in the list of journals that count towards publication points in 8 disciplinary and interdisciplinary Councils for Professor Titles, including the Council for Professor Titles in Education, the Council for Professor Titles in Law, the Council for Professor Titles in Linguistics, the Council for Professor Titles in the interdisciplinary field of History-Archaeology-Ethnology, the Council for Professor Titles in Psychology, the Council for Professor Titles in the interdisciplinary field of Philosophy-Sociology-Politics, the Council for Professor Titles in the interdisciplinary field of Culture-Arts-Physical Education and Sports, and the Council for Professor Titles in Literature.
Operational orientation
Adhering closely to the Party and State's guidelines and policies, assessing the current situation, introducing international experiences, and new theoretical issues, we promptly reflect on and propose solutions for the economic, social, and cultural development of the country, thereby contributing to the acceleration of industrialization, modernization, and international integration.
Continuously improving the quality and relevance of the journal by diversifying its content and meeting the requirements of developing social sciences and humanities; and fundamentally and comprehensively reforming the country's education and training system.
Support the publication of high-quality articles as committed to scientific research projects; Select and promptly introduce papers and presentations at scientific conferences; Publish articles by doctoral and master's students that meet the scientific quality requirements.
Establish a network of scientists (both domestic and international) to contribute articles and review them for the journal; promote international integration by publishing and promoting publications in English; collaborate with faculties and units within the university to introduce and promote the journal internationally; and invite foreign professors and experts to contribute articles and review them for the journal.
Manage the submission, acceptance, peer review, and publication process for articles on JOSSH using journal management software. Articles published on JOSSH are publicly accessible on the website. Accepted articles are published online first.
Collaborating with foreign publishers/journals and foreign data services, the goal is that by 2022, the English-language issue of the Journal will be published by a foreign publisher; and the articles will be archived in international databases.
