Receive and work with the President of the World Association of Applied Psychology (IAPP)

The content of the working session revolved around the plan to organize a scientific conference on the topic of Psychology in Southeast Asia, which will be co-organized by the World Association of Applied Psychology.Institute of Psychology - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences,The conference will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from 28/11-1/12/2017. The conference aims to enhance the connectivity in the research, training and practice aspects of psychology in the region, as well as to create opportunities for Southeast Asian psychologists to contribute to the development of psychology worldwide through the exchange of research, training and practice experiences with each other.

Dr. Janel Gauthier said that the World Association of Applied Psychology wants to build a network between psychology researchers in the region and around the world. This scientific conference will be a stepping stone in that process. Dr. Janel Gauthier expressed her confidence in prestigious universities such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a place to exchange experiences and build a regional academic network.

On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) highly appreciated the idea of ​​organizing the conference of the World Association of Applied Psychology. This will be an opportunity for the staff and lecturers of the Department of Psychology of the University in particular and the Vietnamese research community in general to expand their understanding and vision of research, training and practice of psychology. This is also in line with the orientation of internationalization and international integration in the research and training work of the University.

At the end of the working session, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh and Dr. Janel Gauthier signed a memorandum of agreement to officially legalize the plan to organize the workshop.

The International Association of Applied Psychology is the oldest international organization of psychologists, founded in 1920. Currently, the IAAP has more than 1,500 members in 80 countries. Members of the association receive official journals Applied Psychology and Health and Well-Being every year. The mission of the IAAP is to advance the science and practice of applied psychology and to facilitate interaction and exchange among psychologists around the world in the field of applied psychology.
