The meeting focused on the plan to organize a scientific conference on Psychology in Southeast Asia, which will be co-organized by the World Association for Applied Psychology.Institute of Psychology - Vietnam Academy of Social SciencesThe conference, organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Chinese Psychological Association, and the Australian Psychological Association, will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 28th to December 1st, 2017. The aim of the conference is to strengthen connections in the research, training, and practice aspects of psychology in the region, as well as to provide opportunities for Southeast Asian psychologists to contribute to the development of psychology worldwide through the exchange of research, training, and practice experiences.
Dr. Janel Gauthier stated that the World Association for Applied Psychology aims to build a network among psychology researchers in the region and around the world. This scientific conference will be a stepping stone in that process. Dr. Janel Gauthier expressed confidence in prestigious universities like the University of Social Sciences and Humanities as a platform for exchanging experiences and building regional academic networks.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) highly appreciated the idea of organizing the conference by the World Association of Applied Psychology. This will be an opportunity for faculty and staff of the Psychology Department of the University in particular, and Vietnamese researchers in general, to broaden their understanding and perspective on research, training, and practice in psychology. This is also consistent with the internationalization and integration orientation in the University's research and training work.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh and Dr. Janel Gauthier signed a memorandum of agreement to officially formalize the plan to organize the conference.

The International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) is the oldest international organization of psychologists, founded in 1920. Currently, the IAAP has over 1500 members in 80 countries. Members receive annual access to the official journals Applied Psychology and Health and Well-Being. The IAAP's mission is to advance the science and practice of applied psychology and to facilitate interaction and exchange among psychologists worldwide in the field of applied psychology.
