On February 16, 2017, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Office of Cooperation and Development met and worked with a delegation from Chonbuk National University (South Korea) led by Associate Professor Kim Kwang Suk (Vice Rector in charge of International Cooperation).

During the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) emphasized that promoting international cooperation and exchange is considered a key task and foundation for the University's development. The University has collaborated with many renowned Korean universities such as Seoul National University, Pusan ​​University, and the Korea Foundation to develop Korean Studies and other collaborative research and training programs. The University has achieved significant success in promoting research and training in Korean Studies. The Faculty of Oriental Studies currently offers a Korean Studies program, which is one of the leading institutions for training in Korean Studies and the Korean language.

In response, Associate Professor Kim Kwang Suk, on behalf of Chonbuk National University, thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for its warm welcome and expressed his desire to welcome students from the University to study and intern in Korea. Chonbuk National University will facilitate opportunities for Vietnamese students to work in Korean businesses. According to Associate Professor Kim Kwang Suk, Vietnamese students consistently demonstrate exceptional intelligence and diligence compared to students from other countries.

Professor Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated Associate Professor Kim Kwang Suk's goodwill and added several cooperation proposals such as short-term and long-term student exchange programs, and 2+2 and 1+3 models. The Rector also hoped that the two universities would soon sign a cooperation agreement to realize the aforementioned ideas. The Cooperation and Development Office will be the liaison between the two sides.

Chonbuk National University was founded in 1947 with its main campus located in the capital city of Jeonju. Currently, Jeonju comprises 14 colleges with 32,000 students, including 1,100 international students. Chonbuk is a multidisciplinary national university with 15 faculties and 87 undergraduate majors, and 14 faculties and 215 graduate majors.
