This year's thesis defense session had several special features. Among the 55 students undertaking theses this semester, 37 were from the Public Relations major. This was the first time the Faculty of Journalism and Communication had a class of full-time students defending their theses ahead of schedule, and also the first year the Faculty welcomed a graduating class of Public Relations students.

Professor Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, shared: "Although it is just an annual activity in the training process, it is the teachers and students who have made this event special."

Also present to encourage and support the students were many teachers from within and outside the school, especially the Rector - Professor Pham Quang Minh. On the part of the Faculty's partner organizations and media agencies, Mr. Ho Quang Loi - Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, along with representatives from many media and press agencies, were also in attendance.

Even more significantly, the presence of representatives from numerous businesses and recruitment agencies such as Vingroup, Bao Tin Minh Chau Gold and Silver Company, FLC Group, MISA Group, Hoa Sao Group, etc., is noteworthy. From another perspective, this is an opportunity for students to proactively introduce themselves to potential employers; the Faculty of Journalism and Communication can proudly showcase its graduates to society. This demonstrates the partnership and connection between the training institution and employers during the training process – a crucial direction for the Faculty now and in the future.

Sharing his feelings at the ceremony, Professor Pham Quang Minh said: although this is just an annual activity in the training process, the faculty and students of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication made the ceremony special through their efforts and sincerity. The university also recognizes the advantages of the credit-based training method, which helps students shorten their learning process, save time, and enhance their job prospects in the labor market.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Regarding the students' learning and training process, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, stated: The Faculty is the only faculty-level unit in Vietnam that trains students in both Journalism and Public Relations. The difference in the Faculty's training is that students are comprehensively equipped with skills and expertise in various types of journalism and communication, rather than being divided into specialized departments from the first year. Located within a leading institution for training in social sciences and humanities in the country, students are exposed to and imparted fundamental knowledge in Philosophy, History, Literature, Linguistics, Psychology, Political Science, etc., providing them with a crucial foundation of knowledge that helps future journalists produce articles with cultural depth and comprehensive social understanding. Graduates from the Faculty have broad job opportunities and are well-suited to the development trends of multimedia communication in the digital media environment.

Journalist Ho Quang Loi shares his thoughts on the training process at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication.

From a professional perspective, Mr. Ho Quang Loi shared his admiration and respect for the efforts and dedication of the faculty members of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication. Over the past 25 years, the Faculty has trained and provided the country with more than 15,000 graduates, over 400 masters and doctoral degree holders with high professional qualifications and strong professional skills. Many of them have won national and other journalism awards, and many have achieved success and hold important positions in central and local media agencies. These achievements are thanks to the Faculty's continuous improvement in research and teaching quality, its focus on building a highly qualified staff, and its ability to gather a team of journalists and experts from various fields with strong practical skills to participate in the teaching and training process.

The students received great encouragement and support from their teachers.

Fifteen outstanding dissertations defended before the Council addressed various aspects of the field of journalism and media. Many topics closely follow mainstream current events, such as "Samsung's crisis management approach regarding the 2016 phone battery explosion incident," "Information transparency and media ethics - A case study of arsenic-contaminated fish sauce," and "Online newspapers and the issue of marine environmental protection through a series of articles on the environmental incident caused by Formosa"... Many topics explore new and updated trends in modern journalism, such as "Application of multimedia news packages on online newspapers," and "Online media communication approached through a perspective linked to social networks"... Many topics demonstrate interdisciplinary research in mass media culture, such as "Gender stereotypes through the image of female celebrities on Vietnamese online newspapers," and interdisciplinary political communication, such as "Characteristics of public discussion on online newspapers," and "The issue of building a national brand in the Vietnam-US relationship"...

Students from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication confidently presented their research topics to the panel.

Students have taken advantage of the credit-based training method to proactively learn, shorten their time in the classroom, and increase their competitiveness in finding job opportunities.

These graduation theses are the result of months of diligent surveying, research, and immersion in the practical professional activities of journalism and communication students. Besides convincing their professors with their knowledge and confidence, the students also received guidance from their professors, as well as feedback and suggestions from media experts and experienced journalists, to further improve their understanding, expertise, and future career orientation.
