On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2017), on July 21, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized a meeting to express gratitude to its staff and lecturers who are war invalids and family members of martyrs.

The school's youth demonstrated several different revolutionary songs.

Attending the program were Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hai, Chairman of the Veterans Association; Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union; and Dr. Tran Bach Hieu, Secretary of the Youth Union.

Professor Pham Quang Minh delivered a speech at the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh, on behalf of the school's leadership, expressed deep gratitude to the four staff members who are war invalids and the five teachers who are children of martyrs' families within the school. It is thanks to the sacrifices of these teachers that the country has enjoyed peace and development to this day.

"If given the opportunity, young people should visit historical sites such as the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Truong Son Cemetery... to witness the boundless sacrifices of the Vietnamese people. This also serves as proof of the nation's strength in defeating all invading imperial powers," Professor Pham Quang Minh advised.

Professor Pham Quang Minh, on behalf of the university's leadership, presented gifts of gratitude to wounded soldiers and the relatives of fallen soldiers.

The gathering was an opportunity for the younger generation of the school to listen to touching stories about the sacrifices of the older generations.

Having lost her father at the age of 6 and later pursuing a career in archival studies and office administration, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Thi Phung shared her father's thoughts and feelings through five letters that she has preserved.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Long recounts the story of his family, which includes four Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and thirteen fathers, sons, and brothers who sacrificed their lives in the country's two wars. These experiences serve as motivation for him to strive for success. Associate Professor Pham Quang Long hopes that young people will deeply understand the sacrifices of their ancestors and live lives that are beneficial to the country and society.

As someone incredibly fortunate to have enlisted in the military, graduated, and then returned to pursue further studies and research, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Ngoc Thanh remains committed to striving for success because fate has bestowed good fortune upon him. Associate Professor Dr. Pham Ngoc Thanh urges young people to always strive to build a prosperous and decent society.

As a soldier and a humanities graduate who enlisted in the army in his late teens or early twenties, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thanh Hung is even more witty in his reminiscences of his time in the military. He recalls those years when the younger generation across the country went to fight and defend the homeland.

Fortunately for him, unlike his comrades who only bore the scars of war, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Quang Hien also shared touching stories about his war memories. Associate Professor Dr. Vu Quang Hien hopes that future generations will never have to experience war, and that the veterans' association will never need to recruit new members. Associate Professor Dr. Vu Quang Hien urged young people to focus on building a prosperous and strong nation, emphasizing that this is a necessary condition for maintaining peace and national independence.

The students of the school took a commemorative photo with their teachers.
