The Scientific Research Strategy will have basic contents such as: basis for construction; assessment of the current status of the University's scientific activities based on analysis and clarification of strengths and weaknesses in terms of human resources, finance, international cooperation, research facilities, opportunities and challenges for scientific research activities; strategic goals of scientific research activities until 2020 and vision to 2030, including general goals and specific goals; solutions, roadmap and implementation organization.
To develop this strategy, the units will review their scientific research activities, propose key research directions and basic scientific products by 2020 and 2030, along with mechanisms and conditions for implementation. Each unit will propose 01 expert to join the expert group to develop the University's science and technology strategy. It is expected that by early September, the draft strategy will be completed for discussion and comments.
Also at this meeting, delegates discussed and identified a number of issues in the field of science and technology that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular and VNU in general are currently facing. Some strengths were pointed out as follows: The University has a team of famous scientists, with prestige domestically and internationally, a number of scientists are prestigious experts in national consulting organizations on economic and social development, and a team of young staff with systematic training. Regarding the organization of science and technology activities, the University has formed a number of research groups with domestic schools and good international relations, forming cooperative relationships for development of science and technology domestically and internationally. However, some limitations were also identified such as: shortage of staff to succeed leading scientists, uneven distribution of science and technology human resources in different sectors, lack of orientation and thinking about the science and technology market, failure to develop a breakthrough and feasible science and technology strategy, failure to build a professional science and technology management team...
