A seminar on Vietnam-Japan relations is planned for 2015.

This morning, August 6th, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) met and worked with Professor Shiraishi Masaya (Waseda University, Japan) to discuss the joint organization of an international conference on Vietnam-Japan relations.

The conference, themed "Vietnam-Japan Relations during World War II - Documents and Perceptions," is scheduled to be held at the end of 2015. Co-organizing units include: Waseda University, University of Tokyo, Keio University, Hokkaido University, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), and the Vietnam Academy of Science.

The seminar will focus on the following main topics: exploring the Vietnam-Japan relationship during World War II, with a focus on clarifying the process of Japan's occupation of Vietnam and its impact on the transformation of Vietnamese colonial society.

The conference will introduce new sources of information, especially archival materials related to Vietnam and Japan, with the participation of leading scientists, historians, and archivists from Japan, Vietnam, France, the United States, and other countries. It is expected to have two subcommittees: Cultural, Educational, and Social Relations, and Economic, Political, and Diplomatic Relations.
