Plan to hold seminar on Vietnam - Japan relations in 2015

This morning, August 6, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with Professor Shiraishi Masaya (Waseda University, Japan) to discuss the coordination of organizing an international conference on Vietnam - Japan relations.

The workshop has the theme: Vietnam - Japan relations during World War II - documents and perceptions, scheduled to be held at the end of 2015. The co-organizing units include: Waseda University, Tokyo University, Keio University, Hokkaido University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

The workshop will focus on the main contents: studying the Vietnam - Japan relationship during World War II, focusing on clarifying the process of Japan's occupation of Vietnam and its impacts on the change of Vietnamese colonial society.

The workshop will introduce new sources of documents, especially archival documents related to Vietnam and Japan, with the participation of leading scientists, historians, and archivists from Japan, Vietnam, France, the US, etc. It is expected that there will be two subcommittees: Cultural - Educational - Social Relations and Economic - Political - Diplomatic Relations.
