Commending outstanding young people of 2011.

On December 30, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to honor outstanding young people of 2011. This year, the University had 21 young staff members and 140 students who achieved high results in their studies and scientific research, and made significant contributions to the Youth Union movement and student affairs, and were recognized and honored as outstanding young people. Among them, 11 students and 4 young staff members were recognized as outstanding young people at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi level, and 1 student received a commendation from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Commending outstanding young people of 2011.
On December 30, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to honor outstanding young people of 2011. This year, the University had 21 young staff members and 140 students who achieved high results in their studies and scientific research, and made significant contributions to the Youth Union movement and student affairs, and were recognized and honored as outstanding young people. Among them, 11 students and 4 young staff members were recognized as outstanding young people at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi level, and 1 student received a commendation from the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.The achievements of students and young staff of the University in general, and outstanding young individuals in particular, in the 2010-2011 academic year are as follows: In the 2010-2011 academic year for the regular program, the University awarded diplomas to 1,285 students of the QH.2007.X cohort, of which 23.11% achieved excellent and good grades, 75.5% achieved fair grades, and 0.7% achieved average grades. The academic results for the 2010-2011 academic year for the QH.2008.X, QH.2009.X, and QH.2010.X cohorts were: excellent 5.35%, good 22.49%, fair 49.86%, average 15.93%, and failing 6.35%. In the 2010-2011 academic year, the Principal awarded certificates of merit to 58 students who achieved excellent academic results, 52 students who were class officers, youth union officers, and student association officers with outstanding achievements in their studies and work, and 48 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who excelled in their studies. Notably, 21 young staff members received the title of outstanding worker at the grassroots level.

Regarding scientific research, in 2010-2011, 24% of students conducted scientific research with 746 projects. Of these, 79 projects won awards at the university level, and 20 projects were submitted to competitions at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Ministry of Education and Training. The results included 5 projects winning third prize at the ministerial level, 1 project winning second prize, 4 projects winning third prize, and 6 projects receiving honorable mention at the Vietnam National University level. With these achievements, the university was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training for its outstanding performance in organizing the Student Scientific Conference for 10 years. Furthermore, in the 2010-2011 academic year, 1,810 students received academic achievement scholarships, and 354 students received scholarships sponsored by domestic and international organizations, an increase of 29 students compared to the 2009-2010 academic year. Many other achievements of students and young staff members were also demonstrated in social, cultural, and sports activities. Notably, in 2010-2011, 33 students and 15 young staff members were honored to join the Party. On behalf of the University leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – the Rector – acknowledged and congratulated the achievements in learning, research, and teaching of the students and young staff members. The Rector affirmed that the University and its units always care for and create favorable conditions for young staff and students to study and develop well. At the same time, the Rector expressed his wish that students and young staff members would continue to strive, always harbor ambitions and dreams of becoming outstanding citizens, and that more exemplary young staff and students would be honored. At the commendation ceremony, Dr. Do Hong Duong (lecturer in the Faculty of Linguistics), representing the exemplary young staff members, reported on his achievements in teaching and research. In the past academic year, Dr. Do Hong Duong successfully defended his doctoral thesis at the national level on time and achieved excellent results, and is currently working on a project at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, which will be completed in 2013. Student Le Thi Kieu Oanh (K53, Faculty of Management Science), who achieved excellent academic results in both semesters of 2010-2011 with a GPA of 3.87, also shared her learning experiences.
