Specifically, the Vietnamese History major only recruits students under a strategic training program (achieving international standards).

I. Eligibility for participation

Citizens of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who meet the conditions stipulated in the Regulations on Postgraduate Training at Hanoi National University, issued under Decision No. 1555/QD-DHQGHN dated May 25, 2011, by the Director of Hanoi National University.

II. Admission requirements for master's degree programs

Applicants for the standard master's degree program at Hanoi National University must meet all of the following conditions:

a) Having a clean personal record and not currently being prosecuted for criminal offenses;

b) Possess a university degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered examination specialization; or possess a full-time university degree in a field closely related to the registered examination specialization, having completed supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in the same field as the registered examination specialization;

c) Having at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of signing the Decision on recognizing university graduation to the date of the exam), except for those with a university degree of "good" or higher, in a field that is the same or relevant to the registered major;

d. Having sufficient health to study.

III. Specializations with specific considerations

1. Major in Political Science/Ho Chi Minh Studies

Regarding diplomas/certificates

  • Hold a university degree in Political Science or a related field.
  • Alternatively, candidates may hold a regular degree in one of the following fields: Philosophy, History, International Studies, Political Education (Civic Education), Management Science (Social Management), Journalism, Party and State Administration, Law, Sociology, Political Economy, or Foreign Economics, after completing supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Political Science.
  • Alternatively, one may possess a regular university degree in other fields after completing supplementary courses to achieve a level of proficiency equivalent to a university degree in political science.

* Years of service

  • Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university with a degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the chosen specialization.
  • Candidates with a university degree of average grade in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered examination specialization, or a degree in a closely related field, must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered examination specialization (calculated from the date of the Decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the examination).
  • Candidates with degrees in other fields must have at least three years of work experience in a professional field relevant to the major they are applying for (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of the exam).

2. Information and Library Science major.

Regarding diplomas/certificates

  • Hold a university degree in a field directly related to or relevant to Library and Information Science;
  • Alternatively, individuals may possess a full-time university degree in a field closely related to Library and Information Science, and have completed supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Library and Information Science.

* Years of service

  • Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university with a degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the chosen specialization.
  • Those with a university degree of average grade in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major, or a degree in a field closely related to the registered major, must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the Decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the exam).

3. Science and Technology Management Major

Regarding diplomas/certificatesApplicants must possess a full-time, full-time, or part-time university degree and a certificate of supplementary knowledge in the field of study for the examination.

* Years of service and eligibility criteria for the exam

Applicants must have at least one year of work experience in a field related to their chosen major (calculated from the date of their university graduation certificate to the date of the exam), in one of the following positions: leaders and specialists in science and technology management units of state administrative and public service agencies; political organizations; socio-political organizations; social-professional organizations; enterprises of various economic sectors; and non-governmental organizations.

4. Tourism Major

Regarding diplomas/certificates

  • I have a university degree in Tourism.
  • Or hold a formal degree in tourism economics, tourism geography, or tourism culture;
  • Or have a university degree in a different field.

* Regarding years of service

  • Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university with a degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the chosen specialization.
  • Individuals holding a full-time degree in tourism economics, tourism geography, or tourism culture must have at least one year of work experience in a field relevant to their chosen major (calculated from the date of the graduation certificate to the date of the exam) and have completed supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in tourism.
  • Individuals holding a university degree in another field but with at least three years of continuous work experience in the tourism sector (calculated from the date of the graduation certificate to the date of the exam) who have completed supplementary training to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in tourism.

5. Journalism Major

Regarding diplomas/certificates

  • Hold a university degree in a field directly related to or relevant to Journalism;
  • Alternatively, one may have a full-time university degree in a field closely related to Journalism, and have completed supplementary courses to achieve a level equivalent to a university degree in Journalism.

* Years of service

  • Individuals with a university degree classified as "good" or higher are eligible to take the exam immediately after graduating from a university with a degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the chosen specialization.
  • Those with a university degree of average grade in a field directly related to or relevant to the registered major, or a degree in a field closely related to the registered major, must have at least one year of work experience in a professional field relevant to the registered major (calculated from the date of the Decision recognizing university graduation to the date of the exam).

IV. Eligibility requirements for doctoral training

1. Candidates applying for the standard doctoral training program of Hanoi National University.The following conditions must be met:

a) Has a clean personal record and is not currently under criminal investigation.

b) Meeting one of the following conditions regarding academic qualifications and published works:

  • Applicants must possess a research-oriented master's degree or a master's thesis with a minimum of 10 credits in a field that is relevant, appropriate, or closely related to the field for which they are applying.
  • Applicants must possess a master's degree with a practice-oriented specialization that is relevant, appropriate, or closely related to the field for which they are applying, and have at least one published article in a scientific journal or conference proceedings prior to submitting their application.
  • Applicants must possess a master's degree in another field and a bachelor's degree in a field directly related to or relevant to the chosen specialization. In this case, applicants must have at least one published article in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting their application and must take the entrance exam under the regulations for applicants without a master's degree.
  • Applicants must possess a full-time university degree in a relevant field, with a GPA of excellent or higher, and have at least one published article in a scientific journal or conference proceedings before submitting their application.
  • Applicants must possess a full-time university degree in a relevant field, with a GPA of "good," and have at least two published articles in scientific journals or conference proceedings before submitting their application.

The content of the articles must be relevant to the field of study for which the applicant is applying and must be published in scientific journals of Hanoi National University, reputable national or international scientific journals, or in peer-reviewed proceedings of officially published national or international scientific conferences.

c) At least two scientists with the title of professor, associate professor, or doctoral degree in the same field or research area must be recommended, with one of them acting as the thesis supervisor. The recommendation letters should include comments and assessments of the candidate's abilities and qualities;

d) The research proposal essay (included in the HSCM) should clearly state the reasons for choosing the research field, the reasons for choosing the training institution, the research objectives, and the implementation plan during the training period. The essay should also mention the experience and professional knowledge that the candidate has prepared and the planned scientific activities of the candidate after completing the doctoral training program;

e. Candidates for the doctoral program must have at least two years of professional work experience in the field of their chosen major (calculated from the date of the university graduation certificate to the date of enrollment), except in the case of transfer students;

h, Having sufficient health to study.

i. Applicants must possess one of the following foreign language certificates or diplomas:

  • A foreign language proficiency certificate equivalent to level B1 or level 3/6 or higher according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, valid for 2 years from the date of the exam to June 15, 2013 (Round 1) or September 14, 2013 (Round 2), issued by an authorized international testing center or a domestic university offering a foreign language program at the undergraduate level according to the B1 equivalent proficiency framework (list in the attached Appendix).
  • A university degree or master's degree obtained from overseas training;
  • University degree in a foreign language;
  • Certificates confirming eligibility for postgraduate training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with a score of 65/100 or higher, valid for 2 years from the date of the exam to June 15, 2013 (Round 1) or September 14, 2013 (Round 2);

* Those who do not possess one of the aforementioned foreign language certificates or diplomas may register to take the Foreign Language exam during the same admission period as a substitute.

2. Candidates applying for the internationally accredited doctoral program.Candidates must meet all the requirements as for applicants to the standard doctoral program at Hanoi National University, and in addition, they must:

a) Possess the original IELTS 4.5, TOEFL 450 or higher, or equivalent English proficiency certificates issued by the University of Foreign Languages ​​or an accredited organization. These certificates are valid for 24 months from the date of issuance or the date of the exam;

b) There is a commitment to participate in the course in a full-time format.

V. Preferential policies in admissions

1. Candidates who receive priority in admissions belong to the following categories:

a) Having worked for two consecutive years or more (up to the date of the exam) in communes located in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions in mountainous, highland, remote, or island regions as defined by the Government.

b) Wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and those entitled to benefits similar to wounded soldiers;

c. Heroes of the armed forces, Labor heroes, and those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution;

d. Ethnic minorities in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.

2. Priority groupsAll required supporting documents must be valid and submitted in full and on time along with the application for the entrance exam.

3. Candidates belonging to priority groups will receive an additional ten points.(on a 100-point scale) for the foreign language subject and one point (on a 10-point scale) for the basic subject. Individuals belonging to multiple priority categories are only entitled to priority once.

VI. Examination Subjects

Basic subjects, foundational subjects, foreign language (one of five languages: Russian, German, English, French, Chinese, in multiple-choice format, with a common exam for both master's and doctoral programs).

VII. Application forms are available at the school.

The file includes:

1. Application form for the entrance exam, using the template provided by Hanoi National University.

2. A self-declaration of personal history certified by the managing agency or local government where the applicant resides (for individuals not working in state-owned or private agencies, units, or enterprises, or those working in agencies but not sent for training by their agency).

3. A health certificate for studying issued by a general hospital (valid for 6 months from the date of application).

4. Certified copies of the following diplomas and certificates, notarized by a state notary:

  • University diploma and transcript with certified grades from the competent authority (for candidates applying for master's or doctoral programs but without a master's degree); master's degree and master's transcript (for candidates applying for doctoral programs who already have a master's degree).
  • Certificate of supplementary knowledge (if required to attend supplementary courses);
  • Recruitment or appointment decision (if applicable to government officials) or long-term employment contract and certificate of work experience.
  • A notarized copy of legal documents proving eligibility for priority consideration (if applicable).
  • Legal documents proving foreign language proficiency (if any)

5. A letter of recommendation from the head of the managing agency for individuals currently working in state-owned or private agencies, units, or enterprises.

6. Three envelopes with the candidate's address already written on them, stamped, and four 3x4 size photos.

7. Research proposal essay, academic resume, and copies of published research papers (for doctoral candidates).

8. Two letters of recommendation from two scientists holding the academic titles of Professor, Associate Professor, or Doctor of Science, Doctor of Philosophy in the same field, one of whom will serve as the dissertation supervisor. The letters of recommendation should include comments and assessments of the candidate's abilities and qualities (for doctoral candidates).

VIII. Admission Plan

  • Application forms will be sold from March 18th to April 26th, 2013 (excluding holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays).
  • Application period: From May 6th to May 17th, 2013 (excluding holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays).

IX. Admission Fees

1. Registration fee for the exam: 60,000 VND.

2. Examination fees:

2.1. Postgraduate studies: 120,000 VND/subject x 3 subjects

2.2. NCS:

  • From Bachelor's degree: 560,000 VND
  • For Master's degree holders: 200,000 VND (excluding the fee for the foreign language exam)
