The tournament was meticulously prepared by the organizing committee: establishing subcommittees for Logistics, Communications, and Match Organization to handle tasks professionally, designing a logo and trailer specifically for the tournament, building strong communication channels such as Facebook fan pages, YouTube, and a website, printing posters, banners, and match uniforms… After a period of elaborate planning and preparation, the first events of UCL 2013 began in early March 2013.
The event kicked off with the Launch Gala and Draw Ceremony titled "Humanitarian Spirit" on March 4th, attended by representatives from the Board of Directors, the School Sports Association, the Steering Committee, the Organizing Committee of the Tournament, and representatives from the Party Committee, the Heads of Departments, and the Student Unions/Associations of the participating units. Here, 16 teams were drawn into 4 groups to compete in 32 matches to determine the winner of the prestigious silver trophy.
Shortly after, on March 10th, an unprecedented match took place: the Humanities Super Cup. This was a clash between the reigning champions of the two biggest football tournaments at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Philosophy team, the reigning champion of the 2008 Humanities men's student football tournament, played an outstanding match against the reigning champion of the 2012 faculty and student tournament, the faculty team, and won with a score of 2-1.
And the most anticipated event, the Opening Ceremony of UCL2013, was solemnly held at 9:00 AM on March 17th at the C500 Stadium, People's Security Academy. The event, considered "the largest gathering of men in the history of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities," left a deep impression not only on the faculty and students of the University but also on all guests, friends, and those who witnessed it.
By this point, the group stage has concluded, eight teams have qualified for the quarterfinals, and eight teams have been eliminated. UCL2013 has reached its halfway point, filled with a wealth of emotions. After each match, articles, photos, and video clips are posted on bongdanhanvan.com, the official website of the tournament. These media products are the catalyst, keeping the flame of football alive at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Besides media coverage, the organization and management of the tournament have also received special attention. From the smallest tasks like ball retrieval and match supervision to player management, scheduling, and ensuring fairness in matches, the organizing committee has made every effort. Despite some unavoidable shortcomings, UCL2013 has created a passionate football atmosphere during Youth Month at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Undoubtedly, that atmosphere will become even more fervent, and the spirit of humanism will soar even higher in the coming days of April.
