10. Summary of new results of the thesis:

The thesis analyzes the occupational inheritance between generations in the family in Thanh Hoa city in 3 aspects: inheritance of occupational position, inheritance of experience, occupational skills and inheritance of occupational values. Qualitative and quantitative studies show that the inheritance of occupational position tends to decrease over generations and over time. The inheritance of experience, occupational skills and the inheritance of occupational values occur in all occupational groups, but in the high-status occupational group, the occupational inheritance is active, while in the low-status group, the inheritance is more passive.

The change in occupational structure in the next generation compared to the previous generation is a factor affecting occupational succession between generations in the family, but this factor is not the strongest factor. Family background and factors related to the individual worker are also among the factors affecting occupational succession between generations in the family.

The thesis has thoroughly used the social mobility method of sociologist Yasuda to analyze the current situation of occupational inheritance as well as find out the causes leading to that situation.

The thesis studies about vocational succession across family generations in Thanh Hoa city in three aspects: succession of vocational position, succession of experience - professional skills and succession of vocational value. The qualitative and quantitative studies show that the succession of vocational position tends to decrease over generations time by time, while experience, vocational skills and vocational value are continued in all vocational groups.
