1. Purpose and scope of the thesis

1.1. Research Objectives

Based on a theoretical framework, this dissertation researches, surveys, and evaluates the current state of mobile journalism in Vietnam through an analysis of content, form, production methods, information dissemination, and audience. Based on this, the dissertation will generalize the issues raised from a journalistic perspective, while also forecasting development trends and proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of mobile journalism in the future.

1.2. Research Subjects

The subject of this thesis is mobile journalism in Vietnam today.

2. Research methods used

2.1. Methodology:

- General methodology: The dissertation utilizes dialectical materialism and the viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the Party's perspective on journalism and media, journalistic and media theory, and practical viewpoints.

- Specialized methodology: Utilizing McLuhan's Technical Determination Theory, Ikuo Takeuchi's, Elihu Katz's, and Denis McQuail's Employment and Satisfaction Theory, and Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver's Communication Model Theory.

2.2. Instrumental methods:

- Research methods used include qualitative research (document analysis, in-depth interviews, and participation interviews).

- Quantitative research method (Anket interview).

3. Main results and conclusions

3.1. Main results

- Develop a theoretical framework for mobile journalism, including concepts, characteristics, production processes, and publishing.

- Determine the format of a mobile-based journalistic product through its interface, video, audio, and images. These elements differ significantly from the web version.

- The content of news reports on mobile phones is concise and to the point, prioritizing socio-political issues, entertainment, and guidance.

-The mobile news audience in Vietnam is young, with a high demand for current events and entertainment, often busy, and prefers to access concise, vivid, and personalized information.

- The production method of mobile journalism is multi-source, multi-dimensional, and multi-component, encompassing content from both producers and users. The publishing method of mobile journalism is multi-platform, multi-channel, self-directed to users, and involves measuring and suggesting content to users.

Mobile journalism creates a new ecosystem: a source ecosystem, a channel ecosystem, a content ecosystem, and a user ecosystem.

3.2. Conclusion

- Mobile journalism in Vietnam today is a relatively independent form of journalism compared to its web-based counterpart. The content primarily reuses material from the web version, except for some radio and television channels that produce content specifically for mobile phones.

- The process of producing and distributing news on mobile phones is both a common process and differs from web production. The unique aspect is the use of a three-in-one medium: smartphones are used as a production tool, a publishing channel, and a device for receiving information; the public directly participates in the product production process; content actively reaches users through applications; and it is published across multiple platforms.

- A segment of the mobile-based journalism audience has emerged in Vietnam. This audience has a close relationship with the general Vietnamese journalism audience, but possesses different characteristics, needs, habits, and preferences.

1. Thesis purpose and objectives

On the basis of the theoretical, the thesis studies, surveys and assesses the current situation of press products on mobile phones in Vietnam today through analyzing the content, forms and information transmission modes of production and the public. On that basis, the thesis will generalize the issues raised from the journalistic perspective, and forecast the development trend and propose solutions to improve press effectiveness on mobile phones in the future.

The object of the thesis research is press in mobile phone in Vietnam today.

2. Research methods

- General methods: The thesis uses dialectical materialism and views of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thoughts, and the Vietnamese Communist Party of communication and journalism.

- Specialized methods: Theory of Technological determinism of McLuhan's, theory of uses and gratifications of Ikuo Takeuchi, Elihu Katz, Denis McQuail and Theory of communication model by Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver and communication model 4.0.

- Qualitative research methods (document analysis, in-depth interviews, attendance interviews).

- Quantitative research methods (interview Anket).

3. Major results and conclusions

3.1. The major results

- Develop a system of press theory on mobile phones, including concepts, characteristics, production and publishing processes.

- Determine the form of press products on mobile phones including interface, video, audio, images. These factors have many differences compared to the web version.

- The content of the press on mobile phones is brief, concise, giving priority to the political-social, entertainment and instruction areas.

- The public of press on mobile phone in Vietnam is young people, with high demand for news and entertainment, is often busy and likes to access short and brilliant information and has personalization.

- The methods of press on mobile phone production are multi-source, multi-dimensional, many components. Content of press products of press on mobile phone is come by producers and users. The method of press on mobile phone publishing is multi-platform, multi-channel, self-searching, user measurement and user suggestion.

The press on mobile phone creates a new ecosystem: the source ecosystem, the channel ecosystem, the content ecosystem and the user ecosystem.

3.2.Revisions
