11. Summary of the new findings of the Thesis:

- To gather the basic theories related to composite indices, innovation performance evaluation, innovation evaluation models, and relevant innovation evaluation indices such as GCI, GII, SII, TAI, and KEI in order to select an innovation performance evaluation index for Vietnam (VN-SII).

- Research and analyze international and Vietnamese conditions to propose a roadmap for applying VN-SII that is suitable for Vietnam's socio-economic development conditions until 2035, and solutions for implementing the VN-SII roadmap in the context of international integration.

- Conduct investigations, surveys, and collect data to calculate the VN-SII index for the years 2014-2016 and the average growth of the VN-SII index during the period 2014-2016;

12. Practical applicability

- The successful implementation of the VN-SII index will supplement the national statistical indicator system with a comprehensive index for the science and technology sector in general and assess innovation activities in Vietnam in particular, in line with international trends;

- The implementation of the VN-SII index, completed according to schedule by 2035, will contribute to the success of Vietnam's international integration policy in general and science and technology in particular;

- Regularly evaluating innovation activities will help managers understand the innovation activities of various industries and sectors, thereby enabling them to develop solutions to enhance innovation within businesses, contributing to improved competitiveness for Vietnamese enterprises, especially in the current trend of integration.

13. Future research directions

- Research several composite indicators related to the evaluation of the science and technology sector to improve the national statistical indicator system for Vietnam's science and technology sector.
