10. Summary of project results:

In the context of digital transformation profoundly impacting journalism and scientific publishing, the project "Digital Transformation Solutions for the Journal of Industrial and Commercial Research" was undertaken to assess the current situation and propose solutions and a roadmap for digital transformation suitable to the specific characteristics of a scientific journal. The project utilizes three methods: document analysis; comparison with the criteria of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Index for Assessing and Measuring the Maturity of Digital Transformation in Journalism (Decision No. 3560/QD-BVHTTDL dated October 6, 2025); and in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders.

Theoretically, the project systematizes the concepts of digital transformation, scientific journals, and digital transformation in journalism and scientific journals; clarifying that digital transformation is the process of restructuring all management, editing, peer review, publishing, and knowledge dissemination activities, not just the application of technology. Based on the set of indicators, the project builds an analytical framework consisting of five pillars: strategy; digital infrastructure, digital platforms, and information security; organization and expertise; authors, reviewers, and readers; and the level of digital technology application.

In practice, the Journal already has an initial foundation in digital infrastructure, content management, data storage, and information security, along with the attention of leadership and the positive awareness of the staff. However, the level of digital maturity is still low and inconsistent, with the main limitations being: the lack of a comprehensive digital transformation strategy and roadmap; limited financial and dedicated personnel resources; the absence of a system for measuring user experience, access, and citations; and the incomplete implementation of DOI identifiers, scientific database connectivity, and digital signatures.

From there, the project identifies the goals, targets, resources, and roadmap for digital transformation in each stage, along with key solutions: developing a digital transformation plan and strengthening financial autonomy; improving digital infrastructure, platforms, and information security; standardizing article data and applying DOI; enhancing digital capacity and establishing a focal point for directing digital transformation; building a mechanism for measuring and improving the experience of authors, reviewers, and readers; applying plagiarism checking, digital signatures, and digitizing internal administrative processes. The project also outlines the advantages, challenges, and recommendations for the managing agency, the journal's leadership, and the staff, contributing to the gradual transformation of the journal from a purely electronic publication to a data-driven digital scientific journal model.

11. Practical applications:

The project closely reflects the current situation and resources of the Journal of Industrial and Commercial Research, and therefore can be directly applied. Furthermore, the research results of the project can also serve as reference material for other scientific journals with similar resources.

12. Future research directions: None

11. Summary of the findings of the project:

Digital transformation is having a far-reaching impact on journalism and scholarly publishing. Against this background, the project “Digital Transformation Solutions for Industry and Trade Research Review” assesses the Journal's current situation and proposes solutions and a digital transformation roadmap suited to the specific characteristics of a scientific journal. The project uses three methods: document analysis; benchmarking against the criteria of the Index Set for assessing and measuring the digital transformation maturity of journalism issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (Decision No. 3560/QD-BVHTTDL dated October 6, 2025); and in-depth interviews with relevant groups of participants.

Theoretically, the project systematizes the concepts of digital transformation, scientific journals, and digital transformation in journalism and scientific journals. It clarifies that digital transformation is a process of restructuring the entire operation of management, editing, peer review, publishing, and knowledge dissemination, not merely the application of technology. Based on the Index Set, the project builds an analytical framework with five pillars: strategy; digital infrastructure, digital platforms, and information security; organization and expertise; authors, reviewers, and readers; and the level of digital technology applications.

In practical terms, the Journal already has initial foundations in digital infrastructure, content management, data storage, and information security, together with leadership attention and positive staff awareness. However, its digital maturity remains low and uneven, with the following main limitations: the lack of an overall digital transformation strategy and roadmap; limited financial resources and dedicated personnel; the absence of a system for measuring user experience, access levels, and citations; and the incomplete implementation of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), connections to scientific databases, and digital signatures.

structured, the project defines the objectives, targets, resources, and roadmap for digital transformation by phase, together with the key solutions: developing a digital transformation plan and strengthening financial autonomy; improving infrastructure, digital platforms, and information security; standardizing article data and applying DOIs; enhancing digital capacity and establishing a focal point to direct digital transformation; building mechanisms to measure and improve the experience of authors, reviewers, and readers; and applying plagiarism checking and digital signatures and digitizing internal administrative processes. The project also outlines the advantages, challenges, and recommendations for the parent organization, the Journal's leadership, and its staff, contributing to the gradual transition of the Journal from simple electronic publishing to a data-driven digital scientific journal model.

12. Practical applicability, if any:

The project closely reflects the situation and resources of Industry and Trade Research Review, so it can be applied directly. In addition, its findings can serve as a reference for other scientific journals in similar conditions.

13. Further research directions, if any:None

14. Thesis-related publications:None
