Summary of the findings of the thesis: This thesis studied the external characterizations, lapidary techniques, lay-outs and figurations of 17th century stone steles in order to find out criteria to determine relatively the date of stele which was lose era indicators. In addition, The characteristics of steel will also be compared with lapidary of wooden architectures in the same era. Also, the thesis concentrates on contents reflect in 17th century stoned steles including pagoda positions, scale, materials, pagoda views... and bibliography and reformation processes ... From these information we can find out the construction and reformation methods for pagodas of ancient people in 17th century. This information is useful not only for people who take into account about stone steles but also for 17th century stone steles. Practical explicabilities: By using the analysis of construction and reformation of pagodas which reflects in 17 century stone steles, this method allows us to understand the way ancient people to construct and reform the pagodas.
