The thesis has systematized the research of scholars in the world, in the country and in the region on the participation of local communities in community tourism development. From there, it points out the gaps in the research in the same field as the topic that the thesis puts forward.
In his research direction, the author has deeply studied and analyzed the factors promoting participation in community tourism activities through assessing the specific level of participation of people in tourism activities based on the 07-level scale of Pretty (1995); on the other hand, the research topic of 04 factors promoting the participation of local communities including: community awareness of resources and tourism activities; economic benefits; conditions of mechanisms and policies; Household resources to propose solutions and recommendations in developing community tourism in Ba Vi in a sustainable direction.
The participation of local communities in tourism development is a multifaceted category influenced by a complex combination of factors. Inheriting from previous studies, this study has built a scale of current participation characteristics of local communities in tourism and extracted 6 factors, including 2 new factors: "Trust with stakeholders" and "Ability to approach tourists". The research results show that the level of participation of the majority of Ba Vi people currently corresponds to the level of passive participation and there is a statistically significant difference between community groups with different levels of education, income, place of residence, participation time as well as participation roles. The regression equation was constructed to reflect that all 6 factors of the current participation characteristics of local communities have a positive impact on their decision to participate in tourism development, arranged in order of influence from high to low: understanding of local tourism, attitude towards tourism development, tourism service capacity, decision-making ability, trust with stakeholders, and ability to approach tourists. However, the decision-making ability and trust with stakeholders in the participation process of Ba Vi people are still limited. Based on the research results and documents of State management agencies, the author proposes 6 solutions that need to be implemented to enhance consensus and active/proactive participation of the community in tourism activities in Ba Vi.
This study uses linear regression analysis to determine the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable "Decision to participate in tourism development" of Ba Vi CĐDP. The evaluation results are collected through a survey with sample size and processed using SPSS 23.0 software.
