The Conference of civil servants, employees and the Summary of the 2021-2022 school year were a great success: Continuing the glorious historical tradition, affirming the position of a University: humane, professional, modern and high-quality.

On the morning of August 25, 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a Conference of civil servants and employees and a summary of the 2021-2022 school year. Attending the Conference were the entire Board of Directors, heads of departments, faculties, units, leaders of unions and 180 delegates representing civil servants and employees of the Faculties/Departments and units under the University.

The conference was honored to welcome Associate Professor Dr. Pham Bao Son (Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi) to attend and direct the conference, along with a number of representatives of the Office, Functional Departments and Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

In his opening speech at the conference, President Hoang Anh Tuan shared: A year has passed with many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, but with the close attention and direction of VNU, the outstanding efforts of the Board of Directors, all staff, lecturers and students, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has closed a school year with many remarkable achievements, many targets completed and exceeded the plan. Today, we look back on a year together to be proud of the achievements and also frankly acknowledge the shortcomings to make improvements in the coming school year.

The conference listened to Associate Professor Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Vice Principal) present the summary report of the school year and the direction and tasks for the new school year 2022-2023. Accordingly, in the 2021-2022 school year, despite many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it can be said that this is the year in which the school has achieved many achievements in all aspects of work: Training, Scientific research, Organization - staff, Planning - Finance, Quality assurance, Building facilities, Cooperation and Development, Administration - synthesis, Inspection and legislation, Political ideology, emulation and rewards, student affairs, national defense and security.

The school has taken many measures to strengthen communication and admissions consulting: online, using websites, social networks, mass media, etc. Therefore, admissions at all levels (high school, regular university, postgraduate) have achieved good results: the number of admissions is 2,034 candidates (including ethnic university preparatory students and foreign students), reaching 123.27% of the announced target and for the second consecutive year, no major has an admission rate below 100% of the target. Of which, 04 high-quality training programs with tuition fees corresponding to the quality and cost of training have 193 candidates enrolled, reaching 137.86% of the set target; Master's level: reaching 107% of the assigned target, Doctorate: reaching 104% of the assigned target. The school has completed the project of planning the training industry and majors for the period 2021 - 2025, adjusting 8 training programs according to technical economic standards. Regular university training activities have been standardized and increasingly improved with many programs to improve training quality. The teaching and learning plan is flexibly designed, focusing on innovation in teaching methods, combining both direct and online.

Scientific research activities are strongly innovative and have achieved many successes.

In the past school year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities maintained and created a scientific research environment and perfected the policies and institutions on science and technology throughout the school, closely linking training with scientific research. The school's scientific staff actively proposed and participated in research topics and projects, especially state-level topics, local topics and bilateral cooperation at home and abroad; considering scientific publications, especially top international publications, as one of its responsibilities. In the 2021-2022 school year, the school is presiding over and organizing the implementation of 08 component tasks of the Vietnam National Geographic series; 05 state-level topics, 01 ministerial-level topic, 09 Nafosted Fund topics, 25 VNU-Hanoi-level topics, and 52 grassroots-level topics.

International publication support activities in 2021 and the first 6 months of 2022 have achieved many outstanding achievements compared to 2020.

Scientific activities have been actively innovated based on technology platforms, promptly adapting to the pandemic context. Scientific conferences, especially international scientific conferences, have continued to take place smoothly on digital platforms, attracting the participation of a large number of domestic and international experts. In the 2021-2022 school year, the School's staff has published 15 monographs and textbooks, including 02 monographs published in English; 380 research articles in scientific journals in the list recognized by the State Council for Professors; 64 articles in international scientific journals, including 36 articles in journals in the ISI/Scopus list.

The school also pays great attention to personnel work, planning and finance, quality assurance, innovation in university management, administration and student care and support... and is increasingly developing in a professional, practical, effective and high-quality direction.

The conference listened to the delegates present a number of papers and contribute their opinions on training, finance, student care and support, and quality assurance. In addition to analyzing the causes and favorable factors for achieving achievements in the 2021-2022 school year, the opinions also pointed out the challenges in the coming time, proposing a number of solutions for the 2022-2023 school year to achieve higher results.

Speaking at the conference, VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements in all activities of the school in the past school year such as enrollment, science and technology tasks at all levels increased in both quantity and quality, focused on cooperation with localities, the number of international conferences skyrocketed, etc. The achievements that the school has achieved have greatly contributed to the overall development of VNU.

To complete the strategy of making the University of Social Sciences and Humanities a leading university in the field of social sciences and humanities, Vice President Pham Bao Son suggested that in the coming time, the university needs to have comprehensive improvement strategies: increase international publication activities, link scientific research with publication and publication; strengthen cooperation with businesses and localities in training as well as scientific research; have policies to attract high-quality human resources (PhD degree or higher) to work at the university; expand space for staff and students to innovate. Vice President Pham Bao Son also shared a lot of information related to VNU's strategy in the coming time: In the coming school year, the school needs to develop tasks associated with VNU's development strategy: developing Hoa Lac campus, science and technology and innovation, cooperation projects with localities (focusing on Northwest and Coastal projects), attracting high-quality human resources, increasing the ranking of universities in the world (2025 reaching the top 500 universities in the world, 2030 reaching the Top 300),... To actively contribute to the realization of these strategies, the School has completed projects to open new training majors to meet the high demands of society, build courses that can be completely online but still ensure quality, provide credits for learners nationwide; Promote consulting and cooperation with localities and businesses; Completing the establishment of the School Council: Speeding up the progress of adjusting and completing the 1/500 planning in Hoa Lac; policies and mechanisms to mobilize resources from businesses and alumni with many activities to connect and attract alumni to return, not only contributing to the School but also demonstrating social responsibility,...

Sharing at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Chairman of the Science and Training Council, former Principal of the school) congratulated and expressed his joy at the achievements the school had made in the past school year, an extremely difficult year due to the impact of the pandemic, changes in policies and mechanisms related to the education sector,... Those achievements have contributed to affirming the position of Hanoi Humanities, worthy of the tradition of more than 70 generations of together fostering, worthy of the expectations of society. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh believes that, with the high determination of the school's Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and the consensus of all staff, lecturers and students, the school will certainly achieve even more success in the coming school year.

Concluding the Conference, President Hoang Anh Tuan once again thanked the close attention and timely support of the VNU Board of Directors. At the same time, he emphasized the key tasks that the school needs to focus on in the coming school year to comprehensively innovate its activities in the direction of: professionalism, substance and efficiency.

The school will continue to complete projects to build a number of new training majors in the direction of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary, high-quality training programs to meet the needs of society, quickly transform training programs towards scientific and technical standards; Strengthen the development of a system of learning materials, textbooks, and lectures; Comprehensively innovate training management activities in all systems in the direction of professionalism and "regularization"; Focus on innovating enrollment work to attract high-quality students and trainees; Promote cooperation and association with agencies, businesses, and localities in organizing short-term training courses/classes.

Innovating scientific research activities, increasing support for international publications in the international journal system with high impact index (ISI, Scopus) and prestigious international publishers. Building and implementing the project of translating high-quality social sciences and humanities books for training, research and community service; Publishing high-quality monographs, publishing "great collections";

Personnel work: Focus resources and build a support mechanism for lecturers and scientists to standardize academic titles/degrees and improve their capacity for integration, innovation and creativity; Train leadership and management capacity for management leaders, foster professional and modern skills for administrative staff.

Continue to develop the internal quality assurance system; strengthen innovation in university governance; improve service quality, professionalism and specialization in administrative management; innovate student work in the direction of: care, support, consultation and companionship.

Continue the project to upgrade facilities for teaching and research; Increase self-study space and cultural, sports and artistic activities for students, complete the information technology system, software system in administrative work as well as online teaching; Complete the adjustment of the 1/500 planning of the Humanities subdivision in Hoa Lac, develop a plan to move to the Hoa Lac campus in the near future.

Increase revenue, increase income and take better care of the lives of staff, lecturers and workers.

In an exciting atmosphere, all delegates attending the Conference expressed their consensus and determination to implement the key goals set by the Conference, promising a new school year with many successes and breakthroughs in all aspects of activities.
