Representing Guangdong University of Foreign Trade and Foreign Studies were Professor Shi You Qi - Party Secretary and President; Mr. Zhou Peng - Head of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office; Ms. Yang Xiao Hui - Director of the Institute of Japanese Language and Culture; Mr. Quan Yong - Director of the Institute of Asian and African Languages and Cultures; Ms. Cai Hong Gen - Director of the Institute of International Students; and Ms. Meng Lin - Head of the Vietnamese Department.

Speaking at the meeting, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan shared: Chinese universities are important partners in the training and scientific research development of the University. Currently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has cooperative relationships with more than 60 partner universities and research institutes in China, spanning cities such as Guangdong, Yunnan, Shanghai, etc. The University always focuses on building new teaching orientations and implementing flexible training programs suitable for many student groups, including international students. In particular, in 2023, the University welcomed more than 200 Chinese students to study and conduct research at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – an achievement thanks to the trust of Chinese students in the University's highly practical and rich training programs. With the mission of leading in training high-quality, highly skilled human resources; In researching, creating, and disseminating knowledge in the field of social sciences and humanities, the University always prioritizes expanding cooperation with international educational and research organizations and reputable scientists worldwide.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities highly values its cooperative relationship with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Foreign Trade, an important partner in the University's cooperation and training. We hope that in the near future, both sides will soon achieve new successes in the process of restarting cooperation after the Covid-19 recovery.
Professor Shi You Qi, President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Foreign Trade, expressed his gratitude to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for consistently promoting cooperation between the two universities over the years. In particular, Professor Shi You Qi shared that not only Vietnamese students, but also Chinese students have a special interest in the social science programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. With a dynamic, professional, and safe environment, many Chinese students who completed their studies at VNU-USSH have recounted their unforgettable experiences.
Since signing the memorandum of understanding in 2017, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Guangdong University of Foreign Trade and Foreign Languages have achieved significant accomplishments in teaching, research exchange, and co-publication. With the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, cooperation needs to be further promoted by both sides, especially in strengthening student exchanges, exchanges in Vietnamese language and culture, and exchanges of outstanding teachers.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa – representing the Faculty of Oriental Studies – also shared: The Faculty of Oriental Studies was established in 1995, with five training majors: Chinese Studies, Korean Studies, Japanese Studies, Indian Studies, and Southeast Asian Studies. The Faculty supports training from bachelor's to master's and doctoral levels. Among these, Chinese Studies is a key major of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. With similarities in expertise, training direction, and research, in the near future, the two universities can move towards in-depth cooperation in expanded areas, not only limited to Chinese Studies but also encompassing other majors that are strengths of both sides. The Faculty of Oriental Studies always welcomes lecturers, students, and trainees from China to lecture, study, and conduct research at VNU-USSH in particular and Vietnam in general.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on many important points. These included emphasizing the expansion of cooperation in departments such as Chinese Studies, History, and Communication. In addition, both sides agreed on several terms regarding scientific research, the organization of forums, and high-level seminars. Specifically, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Foreign Trade agreed to organize a forum on political, economic, and cultural issues, and to improve the quality of talent training between the two universities.
At the same time, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Foreign Trade expressed its desire to accept VNU-USSH students for study and research, with special courses and programs in both English and Chinese.
Professor Shi You Qi affirmed that the Vietnam-China relationship will be the foundation for promoting cooperation between the two educational institutions to a new level.
