VNU President Le Quan chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were VNU Vice President Pham Bao Son, leaders of the Office, some functional departments of VNU and a team of experts from the University of Education, VNU.
The launch of this online teaching support channel will partly support and share with the team of primary school teachers in difficult, remote and isolated areas in all regions of the country who are accessing online teaching technology, especially online teaching associated with the new textbook program in the difficult and complicated time of the Covid-19 pandemic. Through the online teaching support channel of VNU, primary school teachers will adapt quickly and improve their teaching skills and ensure the quality of training in online teaching - that is the comment of VNU Director Le Quan at the conference.
VNU President Le Quan further affirmed that, with the development orientation according to the model of an advanced, multidisciplinary, multi-field research university, VNU always focuses on closely linking training activities with scientific research. In addition, VNU always plays the role and position as a pioneer university in supporting the national education system, universities, lecturers and teachers nationwide.
Director Le Quan has assigned the University of Education as the focal point to implement these groups of issues. This is a task to demonstrate the position and vision of VNU, leading in bringing benefits to education.
Through research as well as recording practical educational activities in a number of localities,A team of experts and scientists from the University of Education mentioned a number of issues that primary education, including online teaching and learning activities, is currently facing. To contribute to solving these issues, the experts recommended supporting online teaching and learning for teachers in disadvantaged areas; enhancing the capacity and skills of primary school teachers; focusing on cooperation with localities with difficult conditions; continuing to complete the online teaching and learning support channel project so that VNU can synchronously deploy it to teachers at all levels nationwide in the near future.
Experts from the University of Education also shared plans to deploy online support channels for teachers, parents, and students in disadvantaged areas such as: Toolkit for teaching subjects in the primary education program (digitalized online teaching materials); Pedagogical/psychological guidance for online/direct teaching; Instructions on using technology in online teaching; Discussion forums, etc.
Concluding the conference, VNU Director Le Quan requested the University of Education to make a specific plan. In the immediate future, the channel will be piloted in some disadvantaged localities, remote areas, and then completed and expanded.
Some other units of VNU will accompany and coordinate with the University throughout the process of building technical infrastructure, digitization, and coordinating with localities to ensure good quality and high academic reputation.
The channel is expected to launch in mid-September, promising to be a reliable address for teaching support for teachers nationwide. The channel will be widely communicated on mass media so that information can reach teachers in disadvantaged areas directly as soon as possible.
