Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is developing a channel to support online teaching and learning for primary school students in disadvantaged areas.

On the afternoon of August 16, 2021, an online conference was held at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) to discuss the development of a support channel for online teaching and learning for teachers, parents, and primary school students in disadvantaged areas, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The channel is expected to launch in mid-September on VNU's online platform.

The meeting was chaired by the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Le Quan. Attendees included the Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Pham Bao Son, leaders of the Office, several functional departments of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and a team of experts from the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The launch of this online teaching support channel will, to some extent, support and share with primary school teachers in disadvantaged, remote, and rural areas across the country who are accessing online teaching technology, especially online teaching associated with the new textbook curriculum during the challenging and complex Covid-19 pandemic. Through the online teaching support channel of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, primary school teachers will adapt quickly and improve their teaching skills and ensure the quality of training in online teaching - this was the assessment of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Le Quan, at the conference.
The Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Le Quan, further affirmed that, with its development orientation towards an advanced, multidisciplinary, and multi-field research university model, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, always emphasizes the close connection between training activities and scientific research. In addition, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, always fulfills its role and position as a pioneering university in supporting the national education system, universities, and faculty and teachers nationwide.
Director Le Quan assigned the University of Education as the focal point to implement these issues, a task to demonstrate the position and vision of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, leading in bringing benefits to the education system.

Through research and observation of educational practices in several localities,A team of experts and scientists from the University of Education addressed several challenges currently facing primary education, including online teaching and learning. To help resolve these issues, the experts recommended supporting online teaching for teachers in disadvantaged areas; strengthening the capacity and skills of primary school teachers; focusing on cooperation with localities facing difficulties; and continuing to refine the online teaching support channel project so that the Vietnam National University, Hanoi can implement it synchronously for teachers at all levels nationwide in the near future.
Experts from the University of Education also shared implementation options for online support channels for teachers, parents, and students in disadvantaged areas, such as: a set of teaching guide tools for subjects in the primary education curriculum (digitized online teaching materials); guidance on pedagogy/psychology for online/in-person teaching; guidance on using technology in online teaching; discussion forums, etc.

Concluding the conference, the Director of VNU, Le Quan, requested the University of Education to develop a specific plan. Initially, the channel will be piloted in some disadvantaged, remote, and rural areas, then refined and expanded.
Several other units of VNU will collaborate with the School throughout the process of building technical infrastructure, digitizing, and coordinating with localities to ensure the channel maintains high quality and academic prestige.
The channel, scheduled to launch in mid-September, promises to be a reliable resource for teaching support for teachers nationwide. It will be widely publicized through mass media to ensure information reaches teachers in disadvantaged areas as quickly as possible.
