QS ASIA 2025: Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) climbs 26 places in the ranking of best higher education institutions in Asia.

On November 6, 2024, Quacquarelli Symonds announced the results of the QS Asia University Rankings 2025 (QS AUR 2025). According to the ranking, Vietnam National University, Hanoi is ranked 161st (an increase of 26 places compared to its 187th position in QS AUR 2024) – placing it in the top 17% of higher education institutions in Asia.

In the 2025 rankings, QS ranked 984 higher education institutions in Asia (including 142 institutions ranked for the first time). The ranking results were based on an analysis of feedback from over 1.9 million votes from academics and 660,000 votes from employers worldwide. Additionally, QS analyzed over 175.9 million citations (between 2018 and 2023) from 17.4 million scientific publications (between 2018 and 2022).
According to the QS AUR 2025 results, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has made solid progress in its ranking, maintaining its position in the three highest-rated criteria from the previous ranking. Specifically, the International Research Network criterion continues to be ranked 89th in Asia with 87.2 points, the Employer Reputation criterion is ranked 137th in Asia with 57.3 points, and the Academic Reputation criterion has increased by 11 places – ranking 136th in Asia with 49.9 points. Among the 11 ranking criteria, VNU has one criterion in the top 100, three in the top 200, and four in the top 400 in Asia. The consistent academic and employment reputation results of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) over the years reflect the quality of VNU's activities and have built a strong brand among scholars and employers both domestically and internationally.
In the QS AUR 2025 rankings, besides Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 16 other higher education institutions in Vietnam were also ranked, including two newly ranked institutions: Ho Chi Minh City Open University and Vinh University. The remaining 14 higher education institutions are: Duy Tan University; Ton Duc Thang University; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Tat Thanh University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics; Hue University; Hanoi University of Technology; Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Technology; University of Da Nang; Can Tho University; University of Transport; Van Lang University; Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry; and Hanoi University of Education.
Regarding ranking criteria and weighting, QS AUR 2025 retains the same ranking methodology when evaluating higher education institutions based on 11 indicators:
