Radiant faces, pride, and overwhelming emotion as the school's traditional song resounded… these were the feelings of teachers and students of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities (HSSH) at the 5th Anniversary Celebration held on October 9, 2024.

Congratulating the achievements of the teachers and students of the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-USSH, happily shared: “As the youngest member of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the High School for Gifted Students in Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved impressive results in the past 5 years.”

To achieve the historic milestone of October 9, 2019, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities spent time preparing and nurturing the establishment of a specialized high school within a specialized university, with many aspirations and expectations to fulfill its pioneering mission in education, training excellent students in the field of social sciences and humanities, and creating a source of social science and humanities talent for the country.
Inheriting the more than 100-year tradition of Hanoi National University and the 80-year tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - a leading prestigious university in the country for training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities, the Specialized High School has many great resources in training generations of outstanding students.
Recalling the early days when VNU-USSH built its specialized high school model, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan said that HSSH was established in a special context, implementing major national policies on linking high school education with higher education. To achieve the results it has today, the school is grateful for the immense support and contributions of many experts, scientists, and administrators from Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The School Board and the Parents' Association express their gratitude to the scientists and administrators who have made significant contributions to the formation and development of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that one of the key factors determining the success of HSSH is the growth in both the quantity and quality of its staff. Currently, including visiting lecturers, the school's staff includes 4 associate professors, 10 PhDs, 22 masters, and 6 bachelors. Over 80% of the staff hold postgraduate degrees. This is a very impressive figure for a high school. In particular, HSSH receives absolute support from over 400 scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, including many leading scientists from across the country and from abroad.
The Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities affirmed that the impressive figures regarding the academic achievements, scientific research, and international integration of former students from the first two training courses of HSSH confirm the correctness of the philosophy that the university has steadfastly pursued: building a comprehensive educational environment with a focus on excellence.
To achieve success in the coming stages, in addition to steadfastly adhering to the philosophy of elite education, the school needs to define a new direction that incorporates quality culture and international integration. Emphasis should be placed on training generations of students who are both knowledgeable and highly skilled; students from specialized high schools should not only achieve their goal of studying at prestigious universities but also participate in internships and practical training abroad.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his confidence that the leadership, staff, teachers, students, and parents will continue to strive and unite to achieve new accomplishments and make practical contributions to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In his welcoming speech commemorating the 5th anniversary of the school's founding, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu - Principal of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities - emphasized that the school focuses on combining comprehensive and specialized training; nurturing students' skills in specialized subjects alongside enhancing their foreign language and information technology abilities.

In the high school graduation exam, the school consistently ranks first in Hanoi in strong subjects such as Literature, History, Geography, English, and Civic Education. In student excellence competitions, students from the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities have achieved many successes: over the past five years, they have won 15 national student excellence awards, more than 170 awards in the Hanoi National University's High School Olympic competition; and nearly 30 gold medals in national and regional sports competitions…
Students from the first and second graduating classes of the school have all been admitted to highly-ranked universities in Vietnam, the region, and around the world. Notably, 31% of students received scholarships to study at prestigious universities such as the University of Winnipeg - Manitoba - Canada; the University of Rochester, New York, USA; Rutgers University, New Jersey, New Brunswick, USA; the National University of Singapore, Korea National University, Japan National University, Eotvos Lorand University - Hungary, etc. The remaining students were admitted to top universities such as Hanoi National University, Foreign Trade University, Diplomatic Academy, National Economics University, Hanoi Law University… Not only were they admitted to social sciences and humanities and economics, but some students also went on to study at universities such as the University of Science, Hanoi Medical University, Hanoi University of Technology, Hanoi University of Architecture, and Vietnam National University of Agriculture…

At the same time, it creates conditions and opportunities for students to shorten their university studies and strengthen exchanges and interactions with reputable educational institutions both domestically and internationally.

The school's teaching staff consists of highly qualified, dynamic, and enthusiastic teachers and lecturers. In addition, the school also has visiting lecturers who are leading scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and member units of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. They are highly skilled in their fields, proficient in their profession, and utilize modern teaching methods; constantly improving their capacity and educational quality, and approaching the standards of advanced high schools in the region and around the world.
The training program has been updated to be modern, aligning with both the general curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Training and the specific characteristics of the social sciences and humanities, especially in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution's strong impact on Vietnam.

Ngo Diem Bao Chau, a student in Literature Class 3 and the top-scoring student in the Literature entrance exam, expressed her deep gratitude to the teachers, parents, and alumni who have instilled confidence and strength in the students of HSSH to cultivate their aspirations and ambitions to reach the heights of knowledge, and to nurture loving, compassionate, and humane hearts.
