To achieve the historic milestone of October 9, 2019, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has had time to prepare and conceive the birth of a specialized high school within a specialized university with many aspirations and expectations to carry out the pioneering mission in education, training excellent students in the field of social sciences and humanities, creating a source of talent in social sciences and humanities for the country.
Inheriting the more than 100-year tradition of Hanoi National University, the 80-year tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - the country's leading prestigious university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities, the High School for the Gifted has many great resources in training generations of elite students.
Recalling the early days when VNU-USSH built the model of a specialized high school, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan said that HSSH was born in a special context, implementing major national policies on linking high school training with university education. To achieve the achievements like today, the school is grateful and thankful for the support and enormous contributions of many experts, scientists, and managers of Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The Board of Directors and Parents' Committee express gratitude to scientists and managers who have made great contributions to the formation and development of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities. Professor Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that one of the factors determining the success of HSSH is the growth in quantity and quality of its staff. Currently, including visiting lecturers, the school's staff includes 04 associate professors, 10 doctors, 22 masters and 06 bachelors. The number of staff with postgraduate qualifications accounts for over 80%. This is a very impressive number for a high school. In particular, HSSH receives absolute support from more than 400 scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, including many leading scientists from the country and foreign scientists.
The Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities affirmed that the telling figures on the learning outcomes, scientific research and international integration of the alumni of the first two training courses of HSSH confirm the correctness of the philosophy that the school has consistently adhered to: building a comprehensive but high-quality educational environment.
To achieve success in the next stages, in addition to maintaining the philosophy of elite training, the school needs to determine a new direction, in which all the elements of quality culture and international integration converge. Focus on training generations of students who are both knowledgeable and skilled; students of specialized high schools not only achieve the goal of studying abroad at prestigious universities but also participate in internships and practical activities abroad.

In the high school graduation exam, the school is always in the leading position in Hanoi in strong subjects such as Literature, History, Geography, English, and Civic Education. In the excellent student exams, students of the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities have achieved many achievements: over 5 years, there have been 15 national excellent student awards, more than 170 awards in the high school Olympic exam of VNU; nearly 30 gold medals in national and regional sports competitions...
The first and second batches of the school were all admitted to highly ranked universities in Vietnam, the region and the world. Notably, 31% of students received scholarships to study abroad at prestigious universities such as the University of Winnipeg - Manitoba - Canada; University of Rochester, New York, USA; Rutgers University, New Jersey, New Brunswick, USA; National University of Singapore, National University of Korea, National University of Japan, Eotvos lorand University - Hungary, etc. The rest were admitted to top universities such as Hanoi National University, Foreign Trade University, Diplomatic Academy, National Economics University, Hanoi Law University, etc. Not only were they admitted to majors in social sciences and humanities, economics, some of the school's students became students at the University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi Medical University, University of Science and Technology, University of Architecture, Academy of Agriculture, etc.
