Faculty of International Studies, field trips are often conducted in countries in the East Asia region, places that are both far and near, strange and familiar. While students of previous courses completed their internships in China and Thailand, students of the K65 High Quality International Studies class this year chose Malaysia as their stopover for four days from September 13-16, 2023.
Please join us in sharing the feelings of K65 High Quality International Studies students about this memorable trip!
“Hello!
Last September, 52 students of K65 CLC and two teachers of the International Studies Department had a trip to the beautiful country of Malaysia. A land of harmony, where many different cultures from around the world coexist; where English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil all live together; and where the tropical vegetation is the greenest in the world.
We had an interesting study trip, listening to about Malaysian politics, visiting the administrative capital Putrajaya, a city with a beauty like the land of a thousand and one nights with a mosque opposite the Prime Minister's Office and highways.
We also went to the ancient city of Malacca - a place recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage in 2008. Stopping in the oldest city in Malaysia, admiring the intersection between the ancient European architecture of the East, the bustling Chinatown of the West, and in the middle is the beautiful and gentle Malacca River, we seemed to see the past, present, and future of Malaysia. Add a little bit of creamy red bean durian ice cream... How memorable! We also went to Batu Caves, trying our hand at nearly 300 steps to admire the unique architecture of Hindu temples in comparison with the Three Religions of the Same Origin in Malacca. And of course, Kuala Lumpur at night with its bustling commercial areas, sparkling twin towers, luxurious shopping centers, and bustling night markets really touches the hearts that long for experience.
From little things like going through immigration at Kuala Lumpur airport, to using English, exchanging money, shopping, and some of us even tried riding the metro, we grew with each experience.
Please consider our pictures as a small gift wrapped for you from Malaysia!"
