Vietnamese - the bridge between overseas Vietnamese and the Fatherland

- “Vietnamese language teaching channel for overseas Vietnamese” - a direct result of the Project “Enhancing online Vietnamese language teaching for overseas Vietnamese” (according to the 6-level competency framework) is basic, effective, suitable, and easy to access for overseas Vietnamese; helping generations of overseas Vietnamese (especially the younger generation) have enough Vietnamese language to use for communication and study, contributing to preserving the national cultural identity, and fostering awareness of returning to their roots.

This learning channel applies a Vietnamese language teaching system through an advanced and modern teaching platform, suitable for developing Vietnamese language proficiency of learners in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution, including a free pilot Blended class product package (training for overseas Vietnamese who are Vietnamese teachers when returning to Vietnam). Through the actual implementation, the overseas Vietnamese community highly appreciated it.

The school is also making efforts to complete online programs and classes for overseas Vietnamese according to each level of competency, focusing first on the intermediate level (levels 3 and 4 according to the Vietnamese Language Competency Framework); Organize, manage and operate a system of diverse courses serving overseas Vietnamese of all ages and backgrounds with different needs according to the 6-level Vietnamese Language Competency Framework; Complete a set of online teaching scripts (videos for passive course programs, interactive models, etc.).

Online Vietnamese learning channel for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese living far from the Fatherland

- In addition to the Vietnamese teaching channel above, what teaching programs does the school have to improve efficiency, sir?

- We have successfully compiled the Vietnamese Proficiency Framework for foreigners, applied nationwide and in many countries (Decision No. 17/2015/TT-BGDĐT, dated September 1, 2015). Successfully compiled the Vietnamese Proficiency Test Format according to the Vietnamese Proficiency Framework for foreigners, applied nationwide and in many countries. Chaired and participated in successfully compiling the Vietnamese Teacher Training Program for foreigners.

At the same time, support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training to teach thousands of overseas Vietnamese who are teachers in the Kingdom of Denmark and the Republic of Austria who voluntarily teach Vietnamese to children of Vietnamese people living and working abroad. Directly train Vietnamese teachers for overseas Vietnamese for the Government in the spirit of Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW, dated August 12, 2021 of the Politburo on work with overseas Vietnamese in the new situation and Resolution No. 169/NQ-CP, dated December 31, 2021 of the Government promulgating the Government's Action Program on continuing to promote the implementation of Resolution 36-NQ/TW dated March 26, 2004 of the Politburo on work with overseas Vietnamese people in the period 2021 - 2026.

From 2020 to present, the school has organized a team of experts in Vietnamese linguistics, language teaching methods and Linguistics to complete the set of materials under the Project "Enhancing online Vietnamese language teaching for Vietnamese people abroad" with important items forming a series of modules for teaching Vietnamese language to Vietnamese people abroad in a practical and effective way.

Bridge connecting overseas Vietnamese and the Fatherland

- During the recent working trip with the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, the school proposed a number of activities to support overseas Vietnamese in developing Vietnamese language and cultivating culture. Could you tell us more about these activities?

- We have met with overseas Vietnamese and cultural management agencies of some Nordic countries. It can be seen that the demand for learning Vietnamese is very high. During the working session with the main partner, the Eskilstuna Intercultural Center in Sweden, the two sides had in-depth exchanges and sharing to aim at specific and practical activities to develop and spread the Vietnamese language. In the future, the parties will coordinate to carry out a number of tasks:

The school sends experienced experts/lecturers in the fields of Linguistics, Vietnamese Linguistics, Literature, Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Culture to teach Vietnamese language and culture at the Eskilstuna Intercultural Center; supports the compilation of bilingual textbooks and learning materials for Vietnamese people in Sweden in particular and foreigners in Sweden in general.

The Eskilstuna Intercultural Center introduces/sends Vietnamese language teachers to schools for direct training on Vietnamese language teaching methods (advanced level) and experience Vietnamese language classes at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language. It can introduce/send teachers to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU to attend international conferences discussing methods, programs, and textbooks for teaching Vietnamese language and culture.

Through the Vietnamese Embassy in Sweden, the school has a specific plan to provide maximum support for the goal of improving the Vietnamese language proficiency of more than 22,000 overseas Vietnamese living and working here.

According to the plan, the school has agreed with a number of training institutions and language teaching centers in the European region to focus on 3 main points: Organizing advanced Vietnamese language teaching training courses for Vietnamese language teachers; periodically providing - through the Embassy - a system of Vietnamese language teaching and learning materials as well as documents on Vietnamese culture; sending/sending staff to educational institutions in a number of Nordic countries to develop programs, teach Vietnamese and subjects about Vietnam...
