Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training course on December 13, 2024, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (NVNONN) Nguyen Manh Dong expressed his gratitude to the instructors who dedicated themselves to imparting knowledge, sharing valuable experiences, and creating a dynamic and effective learning environment for the 2024 training course on Vietnamese language teaching methods for overseas Vietnamese teachers.

Deputy Head Nguyen Manh Dong shared his hope that, through this training course, each participant would become a true ambassador in spreading love for the Vietnamese language to overseas Vietnamese, their families, and communities; and at the same time, help teachers broaden their understanding of national history and culture. This is also an opportunity for teachers to feel more deeply the love and pride for their homeland; a valuable source of inspiration that will not only help them convey language knowledge but also the national spirit to generations of Vietnamese people abroad.
"With the knowledge and skills that the teachers have acquired in this training course, I am confident that they will successfully apply them to their teaching practice. Vietnamese language classes will not only be places to learn the language, but also places to awaken love for the homeland in the hearts of young overseas Vietnamese generations," Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong expressed.

Sharing her feelings after the training course concluded, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai (a Vietnamese expatriate in Thailand) said that she was born and raised in Thailand but has always had a deep affection for and a desire to learn about the culture and history of her nation, especially her mother tongue, Vietnamese. After the training course, upon returning to Thailand, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai will collaborate with Vietnamese communities in Thailand to establish classes and centers for teaching and learning Vietnamese, aiming to spread the language within families. Ms. Lai hopes that through these classes, generations of Vietnamese expatriates born and raised in Thailand will further love and connect with their homeland through their mother tongue.
After two weeks of training, Mr. Duoangluxeay Douan Oupatham, a teacher at the Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese Bilingual School, said he had learned a great deal of useful professional knowledge, improving the quality of his Vietnamese language lessons upon returning to work in Laos. Mr. Duoangluxeay Douan Oupatham hopes that through each lesson, his students will not only learn to read, speak, and write Vietnamese, but also understand history, promote national identity within the Vietnamese community in Laos, and preserve and cultivate the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.

The training course on teaching Vietnamese for Vietnamese teachers abroad is an annual activity aimed at improving the pedagogical skills and updating the knowledge of professional and non-professional teachers currently teaching Vietnamese at community-based Vietnamese language centers. The 12th training course in 2024 was organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
This year, the training course was held from December 1st to 13th, 2024 in Hanoi and several northern provinces, attracting the direct participation of over 40 overseas Vietnamese teachers from 9 countries and territories. These teachers are dedicated to passing on cultural values and preserving the Vietnamese language to their children and future generations of Vietnamese people abroad.
In line with the responsibilities and mission of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has implemented numerous projects to fulfill the major policies of the Party and Government on preserving and promoting the cultural values, traditions, and language of the nation. The 2024 training course on teaching Vietnamese to Vietnamese teachers abroad is designed with the prestige and tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the pedagogical experience and passion of the lecturers, and a spirit of sincere cooperation, with the highest goal being: to transform lessons into practical tools, fostering a love for the Vietnamese language and faith in its enduring value among overseas Vietnamese attending the course.

A new feature of the training course is that, for the first time, the program is designed with two-thirds of its content consisting of practical pedagogical scenarios. Accordingly, teachers will not only be equipped with effective methods for teaching Vietnamese to foreigners, observe Vietnamese lessons at primary schools, and practice teaching skills, but will also gain valuable knowledge about Vietnamese culture, history, and the richness of the national language through practical experiences at historical sites and landmarks in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, and Bac Ninh.
The trainees studied and visited the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
