Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training course on December 13, 2024, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SOCV) Nguyen Manh Dong expressed his gratitude to the lecturers - those who have devoted themselves to imparting knowledge, sharing valuable experiences and creating a dynamic and effective learning environment for the 2024 Training Course on Vietnamese Language Teaching Methods for Overseas Vietnamese Teachers.

Vice President Nguyen Manh Dong shared his hope that through the training course, each trainee will be a true ambassador in spreading the love of Vietnamese to each overseas Vietnamese, family and community; at the same time helping teachers expand their understanding of the history and culture of the nation. This is also an opportunity for teachers to feel more deeply the love and pride for their homeland and country; a valuable source of inspiration that not only helps teachers convey linguistic knowledge but also the national spirit to generations of Vietnamese people abroad.
"With the knowledge and skills that teachers have acquired in this training course, I believe that they will successfully apply them to teaching practice. Vietnamese language classes will not only be a place to learn, but also a place to awaken love for the homeland and country in the hearts of young overseas Vietnamese generations," said Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong.

Sharing her feelings after completing the training course, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai (Overseas Vietnamese in Thailand) said that she was born and raised in Thailand but always had a lot of affection and desire to learn about the culture and history of the nation, especially her mother tongue, Vietnamese. After the training course, when she returns to Thailand, Ms. Hoang Thi Lai will coordinate with Vietnamese communities in Thailand to establish classes and language teaching and learning facilities to spread Vietnamese in every family. Ms. Lai hopes that through this class, generations of overseas Vietnamese born and raised in Thailand will love and be more connected to the Fatherland through their mother tongue.
After 2 weeks of training, Mr. Duoangluxeay Douan Oupatham, a teacher at Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese Bilingual School, said that he had learned a lot of useful professional knowledge and improved the quality of Vietnamese lessons when he returned to Laos to work. Mr. Duoangluxeay Douan Oupatham hopes that through each lesson, students will not only be able to read, speak and write Vietnamese but also understand the history and promote the national identity of the Vietnamese community in Laos; preserve and foster the special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.

The Vietnamese language training course for Vietnamese teachers abroad is an annual activity, aiming to improve the qualifications and pedagogical skills, and update knowledge for professional and non-professional teachers who are teaching Vietnamese at Vietnamese language facilities of the community. The 12th training course in 2024 is organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in coordination with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
This year, the training course was held from December 1 to 13, 2024 in Hanoi and some northern provinces, attracting the direct participation of more than 40 overseas Vietnamese teachers from 9 countries and territories in Vietnam. These are teachers who wish to pass on cultural values, preserve the Vietnamese language to their children and many generations of Vietnamese people abroad.
With the responsibility and mission of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has implemented many projects to implement the major policies of the Party and Government on preserving and promoting cultural values, traditions and national languages. The 2024 training course on Teaching Vietnamese for Overseas Vietnamese Teachers in 2024 was designed with the traditional prestige of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, with the pedagogical experience, passion for the profession of the lecturers and the spirit of sincere cooperation with the highest goal: turning lessons into tools for practitioners, fostering love for the Vietnamese language and belief in the eternal value of the Vietnamese language for overseas Vietnamese who are present at the course.

The new point of the training course is that for the first time, the training program is designed with 2/3 of the content being pedagogical practice situations. Accordingly, teachers are not only equipped with effective methods of teaching Vietnamese to foreigners, attending Vietnamese classes at primary schools; practicing teaching skills, but also gaining more useful knowledge about Vietnamese culture, history as well as the richness of the national language through practical experiences at historical sites and relics of Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Bac Ninh.
