At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong listened to Ms. Tran Thi Huong Giang share about the content and progress of the Social Target Project in sustainable green growth. The project has been implemented since 2016 with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, with the goal of strengthening the integration of social factors into the process of formulating policies and strategies for green growth. The project has implemented technical assistance activities, transferred knowledge, and summarized experiences in assessing the impact of social policies, while helping to improve the capacity of officials, civil servants and public employees of the Government of Vietnam.
For higher education institutions such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Project has contributed to popularizing social impact assessment content in the School through supporting training and capacity building for lecturers; coordinating with experts to develop learning materials on social impact assessment. In the coming time, the Project hopes to supplement and integrate this field into the digital learning materials as well as the training programs of related units in the School such as the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Sociology. Along with that, it is organizing seminars and talks to introduce and spread knowledge and skills of social impact assessment to staff, lecturers and students of the School.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thanh Truong highly appreciated the cooperation results between GIZ and the University in the activities of the Social Target Project on sustainable green growth. The Vice President also agreed with the new cooperation proposals and suggested that the focal units in the University coordinate effectively with GIZ to quickly realize the ideas. In the coming time, the University will continue to spread information about the Project to more units to expand the scale of cooperation.
Established in 2011, the German Development and Cooperation Agency is under the authority of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ). This is a unit with extensive experience in developing and implementing many social impact and poverty assessments in many countries around the world, with a tradition of cooperation in Vietnam in the fields of social security and green growth.
