At the meeting, Professor Pham Quang Minh introduced the university's strengths in Chinese studies. The university has a Department of Chinese Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies) and a Center for Chinese Studies, both units with lecturers and researchers specializing in and experienced in Chinese studies. Each year, the university welcomes approximately 500-600 Chinese students for study and internships. The Rector expressed hope that the university and Hu Xiangsi Academy could promote practical cooperation in the future.

Dr. Tang Lina expressed her pleasure at visiting and working with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between the two sides over the past time. In the future, the Ho Tuong Tu Academy wishes to further strengthen cooperative activities such as exchanging staff and lecturers; and conducting joint scientific research. In addition, she invited representatives from the University to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Southeast Asian Research Center in January 2020.

Guangxi University for Nationalities, formerly Guangxi Institute for Nationalities, was established in 1952. It is one of only two universities in Guangxi that offers Chinese language proficiency certification courses and is one of the institutions providing scholarships for exchange programs between Vietnam and China. Some of the social science and humanities programs offered by Guangxi University include Chinese language and culture; foreign language and culture; Thai, Vietnamese, English, and Lao; politics and public administration; and law.
