On November 17-18, 2023, as part of his working visit to Thailand, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), visited and worked with partners in Udon Thani Province, northeastern Thailand.
During his visit to the Royal University of Udon Thani on November 17th, President Hoang Anh Tuan discussed and agreed with President Khanisara Thansunthornsakun on plans to strengthen cooperation between the two universities in areas such as student exchange, credit recognition, and establishing potential joint training programs. In particular, the two presidents agreed to implement several joint research and publication activities based on the scientific human resources of both institutions, focusing on key areas such as Tourism Studies, International Studies, Thai language, and Vietnamese language.
Both sides agreed to soon sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement during the visit of Principal Khanisara Thansunthornsakun to Hanoi in December 2023.
The principals of the two schools discussed areas of bilateral cooperation.
On the same day, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan visited and held discussions with experts from the newly established Center for Vietnamese Studies at Udon Thani University. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan pledged to provide professional resources such as learning materials and experts to support the Center's rapid and sustainable development in the future.

On November 18th, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan visited and worked at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Udon Thani province, Kingdom of Thailand. Speaking to Vietnamese expatriates from many countries, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized:"During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention to overseas Vietnamese, because although they lived far from their homeland, they were all descendants of King Hung, all brothers and sisters, and always looked towards the Fatherland. We still remember the event in January 1960 when President Ho Chi Minh personally went to Hai Phong port to welcome overseas Vietnamese returning from Thailand to contribute to the resistance and national reconstruction. It can be said that, in his concern for overseas Vietnamese, President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention to those living in Thailand and other countries in the Indochina region."
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan delivered a speech during a working session at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Udon Thani province.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized:“The Vietnamese State today always affirms that overseas Vietnamese are a resource of the Vietnamese national community, an important factor in strengthening cooperative and friendly relations with other countries. The State hopes that overseas Vietnamese will uphold the spirit of self-respect and national pride, preserve the cultural identity and traditions of the Vietnamese nation, love and help each other; unite to spread Vietnamese culture and virtues globally, while respecting and honoring the culture and virtues of nations and peoples around the world… just as President Ho Chi Minh advised during his lifetime:
The mirror's surface is covered with dust and dirt.
"The descendants of Hong and Lac must love each other."
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan, on behalf of the Vietnamese expatriate community in Laos, and Ms. Pham Thi Minh Huong (Head of the Project Committee for Vietnam's National Ancestor's Day in Laos) presented a donation of 350,000 Thai Baht to support the construction of the Vietnamese Cultural Center within the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Udon Thani Province, in the presence of Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh and Mr. Nguyen Manh Dong - Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
