With sincere thanks to the kindness of the Japan Science Society for lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the school expressed his admiration for the contributions of JSS over the past 100 years in Vietnam and other countries. Appreciating the significance of the book sponsorship project of JSS to serve the learning and research activities at the school, directly at the Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan said that this will be the beginning of many long-term and sustainable cooperation programs between the two units.
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan shared that this is a "strange coincidence" between VNU-USSH and JSS when the cooperation activities between the two units took place at the same time when Vietnam and Japan are having many activities to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.
Previously, in early November 2023, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, in collaboration with the Vietnam-Japan University, VNU, organized an international scientific conference with the theme "Vietnam-Japan Relations: Past - Present - Future" to evaluate the research results on the two countries by Vietnamese and Japanese scholars. This is a forum for young researchers, graduate students and postgraduate students of the two countries to exchange and share research results, contributing to strengthening cooperation and promoting exchanges between the two countries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the cooperation memorandum, Mr. Takahashi Masayuki - President of the Japan Science Association shared his personal joy and that of the Japan Science Association when the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, participated in the research book donation project called Book Envoy Project of the Japan Science Association.

Japan Science AssociationJSS is a public interest legal entity established in 1924 with the purpose of reviving science and technology, popularizing and enlightening science and technology in society, and on that basis promoting international exchange programs. The international exchange program was started in 1999. Up to now, after 24 years, JSS has donated more than 4 million books to 86 Chinese universities that offer Japanese language training, supporting the improvement of understanding of Japanese culture, language, education and Japanese language learning.
Based on those experiences, in 2022, JSS launched the Book Envoy project, expanding book donations to 5 universities in 4 countries (India, Thailand, Philippines and Uzbekistan) with the goal of developing scientific research and human resource training, especially in the field of social sciences and humanities in Asian countries.
Mr. Takahashi Masayuki emphasized that, with its position as the leading university in Vietnam in research and training in the field of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU was selected by JSS as the first university training institution in Vietnam to participate in this project.
Mr. Takahashi Masayuki - President of the Japan Science Association shared his personal joy and that of the Japan Science Association when the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, participated in the research book donation project.
The President of the Japan Science Association hopes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, will become a key institution for Japanese studies as well as training human resources using Japanese in Vietnam.
The signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and the Japan Science Association is a practical activity in a series of events to celebrate the anniversary.
50 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, contributing to further strengthening the long-term, strong relationship between the two countries.
