During the meeting, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan welcomed Mr. Kushida Koji and the professors from Dong A University to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, a pioneering and leading institution in training and research in social sciences, with 17 faculties/institutes, 3 research centers, and 1 research institute. Currently, VNU-USSH is a partner of many universities, organizations, and international businesses. According to Times Higher Education's October 2023 World University Ranking by Subjects 2024 (THE WUR by Subjects 2024) ranking, the Social Sciences field at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) rose to the top 501-600 globally. In particular, the university is one of the few institutions nationwide that offers training in Archaeology. Given the history of research and similarities in training styles between the two countries, and the shared interest in preserving historical values, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan believes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Dong A University will have many collaborations in cultural heritage research, international publications, and staff and student exchanges in the future.

Mr. Kushida Koji, President of Dong A University, shared: Dong A University is one of the prestigious research and academic institutions in East Asia, established in 1974 with two pillars: humanistic education and practical education. In recent years, the university has been developing educational programs that meet the needs of the times by combining both local and international elements. Currently, there are 73 Vietnamese students studying at Dong A University.
In addition to its 23 academic programs across 7 departments and 3 faculties (Faculty of Human Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Arts), as well as master's and doctoral programs, Dong A University also offers online master's degree programs for a wide range of students, primarily those who are working while studying.
Mr. Kushida Koji believes that 2023, marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, is a golden opportunity for both sides to embark on a new journey together.
With a diverse range of research directions and a team of highly qualified and professionally trained staff, the collaboration between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Dong A University will make practical contributions to society and to the preservation of cultural heritage in both countries. In the future, the two institutions will research and organize workshops and seminars, promoting deeper international understanding by identifying shortcomings and finding common solutions for sustainable development.
At the end of the meeting, representatives from the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Dong A University signed a cooperation agreement with three main contents, specifically:
- The exchange of staff between the two training institutions will be combined with student exchanges.
- Joint research and international publications.
- Co-organizing workshops on social and human issues.
