Workshop and performance of Vietnamese folk singing

The seminar and performance of Vietnamese folk singing, organized by the Association of Retired Teachers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, on May 29, 2019, commemorated the 129th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and the 50th anniversary of the implementation of his will.

In his opening remarks, Professor Vu Duong Ninh, People's Teacher, brought to mind the glorious historical days of the nation's reunion of retired educators: "We gather in the vibrant last days of May, a time marked by major events such as the commemoration of the victory of national reunification on April 30th, International Labor Day on May 1st, followed by the 65th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7th. And a special event in May is the 129th anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh - the national liberation hero, the outstanding cultural figure, who successfully led the national liberation struggle, bringing independence to the nation and freedom to the people. Also on this occasion, we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the implementation of his sacred testament, with his detailed instructions on rectifying the Party and caring for the people's lives, along with the boundless love he left for his compatriots, comrades, and future generations."

The event continued with an emotional performance by the school's young generation, featuring "Uncle Ho's Last Words Before His Departure." This was followed by performances of the Chầu Văn cultural heritage by professional artists, showcasing folk melodies rich in cultural identity: Chầu Văn devotional melodies, several Chầu Văn verses such as "Remembering My Mother of Yesteryear" (Nguyễn Duy), "Countryside" (Nguyễn Bính), Hue Chầu Văn, and more.

The gathering concluded with the exciting and lively performance of an excerpt.The price of the bronze statue of Co Be Thuong NganPresented by researchers and performed by artists from the Le Thuy Cultural Center and the Le Thuy Folk Song Club (Quang Binh).

The event is not only an opportunity for teachers from the Association of Retired Teachers to meet and enjoy traditional folk songs with a strong national cultural identity, but also an opportunity for young people to engage with this traditional art form and become more aware of their responsibility in preserving and promoting national cultural heritage.
