Attending the exchange were representatives from the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and nearly 20 young lecturers from the University, along with representatives from AVP in Vietnam.
On behalf of the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Professor Nguyen Tuan Anh (Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-USSH) expressed his appreciation to AVP for its professional support, collaborative research connections, and academic capacity building for young lecturers.
During the collaboration, international volunteers, specifically Dr. Anne Marie Hilsdon and other online volunteers, supported the staff of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities in implementing the editorial, peer review, and operational processes of the Journal according to the model of prestigious international journals, and in building the Journal's website according to the standards of international scientific journals. In addition, Dr. Anne Marie Hilsdon also supported VNU-USSH by reviewing, commenting on, and editing articles, book chapters, and monographs for many VNU-USSH faculty members. As a result of this academic mentoring process, the research capacity of many VNU-USSH faculty members has been enhanced, and many of their works have been published in prestigious international journals or by renowned publishers worldwide.

With the goal of enhancing the academic standing of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-USSH, the University hopes to continue receiving support from AVP in the future, including the deployment of 3 experienced international scientists as volunteers to support scientific research for young lecturers at VNU-USSH.

During the exchange, lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, presented common difficulties encountered in research, especially for female lecturers, ranging from time constraints and technical limitations to academic pressure. Lecturers from VNU-USSH also shared practical approaches to improving collaborative effectiveness, as well as reflections from young lecturers and those developing their academic research careers. Practical examples from the Anthropology, Social Work, Philosophy, and History departments demonstrated the practicality and effectiveness of one-on-one mentoring with international mentors.
Representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, and AVP also discussed more suitable mentoring models and proposed building regular peer-to-peer sharing activities to enhance the effectiveness of the academic community.
Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Hong Hai - Lecturer in the Faculty of Anthropology and Religious Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, shared his views on the value of international cooperation in research development.
