Attending the exchange session were representatives of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and nearly 20 young lecturers of the University and representatives of AVP in Vietnam.
Authorized by the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh (Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, under VNU-USSH) expressed his appreciation for AVP in providing professional support, connecting research cooperation and improving academic capacity for young lecturers.
During the cooperation process, international volunteers, directly Dr. Anne Marie Hilsdon and other online volunteers, supported the staff of the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities in implementing the editorial, review and operation processes of the Journal according to the model of a prestigious international journal, and building the Journal's website according to the standards of scientific journals in the world. In addition, Dr. Anne Marie Hilsdon also supported VNU-USSH by commenting, giving feedback, and editing articles, book chapters, and monographs for many lecturers of VNU-USSH. The result of this academic advisory process is that the research capacity of many VNU-USSH lecturers has been improved and many works of VNU-USSH lecturers have been published in prestigious international journals or famous publishers in the world.

With the goal of enhancing the academic position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, the University hopes to continue to receive support from AVP in the coming time, including sending 03 volunteers who are experienced international scientists to support scientific research for young lecturers of VNU-USSH.

At the discussion, lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, presented common difficulties in research, especially for female lecturers, from time and technical barriers to academic pressure. Lecturers from VNU-USSH also shared about practical adjustments to working methods to increase the effectiveness of cooperation, some reflections from young lecturers and lecturers developing their academic research careers... Practical stories from the faculties of Anthropology, Social Work, Philosophy, History... show the practicality and effectiveness of 1-1 mentoring with international mentors.
Representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and AVP also discussed more suitable mentoring models as well as proposed building regular peer-to-peer sharing activities to increase the effectiveness of the academic community.
