This was the topic discussed at the 2nd International Conference on the ICE Economy in 2024, held on June 8, 2024.
The workshop was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the Training Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Tokai University (Japan); the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the National Economics University; Quang Ninh University of Industry; Sao Do University; and Dong Nai University.
ICE 2nd in 2024 attracted the participation of many reputable scientists and experts from both domestic and international backgrounds.
The workshop received 160 papers from researchers and lecturers both domestically and internationally. At the workshop, experts discussed current issues in green finance, particularly the challenges faced by green finance activities, such as the relatively low rate of investment in sustainable development projects in the global green economy (according to the UNCTAD Investment Report). In addition, experts proposed solutions to develop sustainability, increasing the reach of green finance and laying the groundwork for sustainable development in Vietnam, striving to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2050. The workshop consisted of three sessions: a plenary session and sessions for subcommittees (Finance - Banking and Accounting Subcommittee; Marketing Subcommittee; Tourism and Management Subcommittee).
Professor Tsutomu Inagaki - Former Dean of the School of Tourism (Rikkyo University, Japan), Visiting Lecturer, Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
As the keynote speaker at the conference, Professor Tsutomu Inagaki – former Dean of the School of Tourism (Rikkyo University, Japan), visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi – provided a comprehensive perspective on the sustainable development of Japanese accommodation from the 19th century to the present. Professor Inagaki argued that for Japanese accommodation to be highly regarded for its service quality, the Japanese tourism industry has learned from and absorbed the best practices of Western accommodation models while maintaining and preserving traditional Japanese accommodation practices.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Long - Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, participated as co-chair and moderator of the subcommittee on Tourism and Management.
At the Tourism and Governance subcommittee, discussions focused on green consumer behavior among tourists, sustainable development indicators for cities, and the motivations behind South Korean tourists choosing Vietnam as a travel destination. These topics are particularly important for Vietnam's tourism industry in the post-COVID-19 context, where green consumer trends are emphasized and South Korean tourists are the leading international tourist group visiting Vietnam. The ICE International Scientific Conference on Economics serves as a bridge between domestic and international organizations, fostering trends in green finance and sustainable tourism development, promoting investment in projects and initiatives aimed at sustainable development, and providing a foundation for enhancing the resilience and adaptability of the economy to change.
