Following the course of history 2025: The cultural and historical heritage journey of the youth of the humanities.

The annual academic program "Following the Course of History" in 2025, hosted by the Student Union of the Faculty of History, concluded with profound impressions, contributing to spreading a passion for history, inspiring academic spirit, and fostering awareness of preserving national cultural values ​​among students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi.
Academic activities that are the "trademark" of the Department of History.
“Following the Course of History” is an annual academic program organized by the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-Hanoi), aiming to spread a love for historical research, inspire a spirit of learning and creativity, and foster an awareness of preserving traditional values ​​among students. Having been held for many seasons, the program has become a “trademark” of the Faculty of History, marking a significant activity connecting knowledge, emotions, and national pride among the youth of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities.
This year, the Student Union of the Faculty of History is honored to be entrusted by the University's Student Union to host the program with the theme "Journey of Cultural and Historical Heritage," consisting of two rounds of competition:
Round 1: “Tracing the Traces of History and Culture”
Round 2: “Journey through cultural and historical heritage”
Combining academic knowledge with practical experience, the program has attracted a large number of students from various faculties and departments within the university, demonstrating the strong influence of the spirit of studying history in a humanistic university environment.
The competition kicks off with an exciting "Search for the Secret Message" round.
On the morning of October 19, 2025, at the National History Museum, the competing teams began the first part of the program – “Searching for the Secret Message.” During two hours of intense but exciting competition, students moved throughout the museum grounds searching for 70 secret messages cleverly hidden by the organizers.

Each coded message presents a knowledge challenge revolving around events, figures, and historical and cultural heritage of Vietnam, requiring players to possess both extensive knowledge and close teamwork to decipher. More than just an intellectual competition, this is also an opportunity for students to connect with heritage through practical experience, combining learning and practice, theory and the cultural life of the nation.

The Organizing Committee of the "Following the Course of History" competition is holding its event at the National History Museum grounds.
Immediately afterwards, the competing teams continued to showcase their creativity through a video clip voting session documenting their "historical tracing" journey, which was posted on the Youth of the History Faculty fanpage and received enthusiastic interaction from the entire student community of the University.
At the end of the competition round, the Organizing Committee announced the 8 outstanding teams that advanced to the final round, including: the Faculty of Political Science, the Faculty of Oriental Studies, the Faculty of Information and Library Science, the Faculty of Literature, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Faculty of Management Science.
An impressive finale: “A journey through cultural and historical heritage”
On the evening of October 24, 2025, the final round of the "Following the Course of History 2025" program took place in a solemn and emotional atmosphere at the Auditorium on the 8th floor of Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In her opening remarks, Dr. Pham Ngoc Phuong Thuy, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of History and representative of the Organizing Committee, emphasized: “This year’s theme, 'Journey of Cultural and Historical Heritage,’ is not only a tribute to the past, but also an opportunity for the younger generation to connect with heritage through experience, understand heritage through knowledge, and spread heritage with the heart of the new era.”
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of History, the Dinh Xuan Lam History Foundation, the sponsoring and professional support units, and the team of student volunteers who have accompanied and contributed to the success of the program.

Speaking at the final round, Dr. Nguyen Van Anh - Party Secretary and Head of the History Department - expressed his joy and pride in the students' learning and creativity: “We always believe that history is not only found in books, but also lives vividly in the hearts of young people - those who appreciate the past and use the energy, emotions, and language of their generation to retell history. 'Following the Flow of History' is not just a competition, but a journey of knowledge and emotion - where students experience, learn, and grow alongside the history of the nation.”

After exciting and creative competitions, the Organizing Committee announced the final results:
First Prize: Department of Oriental Studies
Second Prize: Department of Political Science
Third Prize: Department of Sociology and Social Work
Honorable Mention: Faculty of Information and Library Science

The success of the competition stemmed not only from the prizes but also from the spirit of learning, camaraderie, and national pride that each team demonstrated. Every participating student was a "storyteller," contributing to the revival of the nation's cultural and historical values ​​through the creative language of youth. "We believe that 'Following the Course of History 2025' will not remain just a competition, but will become a journey of knowledge – where history is spread through emotion, and heritage is retold with the youthful energy of humanities students," shared Dr. Pham Ngoc Phuong Thuy.

Concluding "Following the Course of History 2025," the program left a profound impression on the participants – a place where knowledge met emotion, where history was recreated through creativity, and where the youth of the humanities continued the mission of preserving and promoting national cultural identity.
The competition may have ended, but the spirit of exploration, learning, and appreciation of heritage will continue to spread – as an affirmation that today's humanities youth are the ones who will write the story of tomorrow's history.
