What is the key to your success?
From your first year, find an internship that reflects your future vision. From my early years, I was always conscious of seeking internship opportunities. The jobs I aimed for were always related to my field of study and reflected my future career prospects.. My internship ratio changed over time. For example, in my first year, I allocated my time according to the 80-20 rule (80% for studying, 20% for internships and collaborations). By my third year, the internship ratio gradually increased, accounting for about 30-40% of my total time. Don't wait until your final year to do an internship; that's too late. During my internship, I always aimed to become an indispensable part of the organization, especially in my final year. "Having a lot of experience and social connections before graduation will make it easier to get a good job," shared former student Nguyen Thu Huong. Former student Nguyen Thu Huong |
The key to success is having a good level of professional knowledge and skills. Prepare yourself with the right skills and knowledge in your chosen field so you can confidently enter life after graduation. In addition, you should dedicate time to reading every day. Even after you're no longer studying in university, you should still develop the habit of reading for an average of 30 minutes to an hour each day to acquire knowledge that you don't yet know. What are the key elements for first-year students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities?
"In society, even beggars can make a living, so why can't we, educated at one of the country's most prestigious universities, think about achieving success?", former student Nguyen Minh Duc shared with the current students. Therefore, the most important thing to achieve success is to equip yourself with a wealth of knowledge to be ready to enter society. You need to ignite your passion for your chosen field of study. Although Literature, History, and Philosophy are not the prevailing fields of study in our country, success doesn't depend on your chosen major but on your own abilities and the knowledge you possess to serve society and your nation. To succeed, consider social involvement as an integral part of your life.. It's like maintaining two legs in a complete body: one leg for community activities, and the other for maintaining academic and research results. Former student Nguyen Thu Huong shared: Students who participate in many social activities have a higher probability of success than other students. Former student Nguyen Thu Huong |
How do students use their keys?
Employers may not be able to find out the details of your activities; they usually pay attention to how you present yourself. To avoid getting caught up in a whirlwind of activities, you should determine who you want to be in the future, and what your strengths and weaknesses are. One way to achieve success is to focus on your strengths to become "unbeatable." Find activities that will benefit you in the future, develop your strengths, and assert yourself. High-quality personnel are always favored in the recruitment process. But how do you become a high-quality employee? It's about learning from smaller units and smaller jobs, gradually building a solid foundation for yourself. "To become the editor-in-chief of a newspaper today, I myself had to go through the stages of writing articles, selling newspapers on commission, etc., which helps us gain diverse perspectives on our future work," shared former student Nguyen Minh Duc. Former student Nguyen Minh Duc added: "In today's age, if you have to ask your parents for money to get a job, then you are already a failure." Former student Nguyen Minh Duc |
A message for first-year students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Thirty years ago, my dream was to establish myself and build a career in Hanoi, but now, Hanoi is just a remote village in the world. Your job opportunities are global. Your generation is the generation of global citizens, so you need to equip yourselves with knowledge, skills, and foreign languages to be able to interact, connect, and expand your opportunities. Former student Nguyen Minh Duc |
Be confident in expressing yourself, cast aside feelings of inferiority, and strive for success. Generations of alumni will always welcome you with open arms. Former student Nguyen Thu Huong |
