Today's advisory panel includes:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thu Huong (Deputy Head of the Department of Psychology)
Associate Professor Tran Thu Huong (Faculty of Psychology) pointed out several mistakes young people often make when choosing a career. These include choosing based solely on personal preference without considering whether their abilities match the field; choosing trendy majors without considering career prospects; and choosing a career based on family pressure. In short, the biggest mistake young people make when choosing a career is failing to accurately assess their own abilities and determine if they are suitable for the nature and characteristics of that profession.
What are the consequences of choosing a career that doesn't match one's abilities and interests? In response, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thu Huong shared her perspective: when students lack passion for their chosen profession and don't have the necessary skills, yet still try to pursue it, they easily become discouraged and lose interest in their studies. Upon graduation, they also lack the passion to pursue their work and the drive to excel, making success difficult. Furthermore, if individuals don't enjoy their work and lack the passion to strive for excellence, how will this affect labor productivity and societal development?
Associate Professor Tran Thu Huong also advised young people to pay attention to the following four factors when choosing a career: Firstly, they must base their decision on their personal interests and passions. Secondly, they must gather complete and accurate information about the field, profession, and school they choose. Thirdly, they need to discuss with those around them, especially family members, to gather more information and gain their consensus. Fourthly, they must understand the societal demand for that profession, its position in the market, and development trends. Based on this, they can then make a rational decision.
In fact, the field of Psychology offers aptitude tests that help young people assess their abilities and career aptitudes. This is also a good way to evaluate their suitability for a particular profession. Students can also seek help from faculty members of the Psychology Department or the Center for Psychological Counseling and Support at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities

MSc. Dinh Viet Hai - Deputy Head of Training Department
Sharing the same viewpoint as Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thu Huong, Master's student Dinh Viet Hai stated that many universities in Vietnam currently conduct online university admissions counseling. To obtain accurate information about the majors and universities you intend to choose, in addition to consulting with family and friends or through mass media, you should participate in online counseling programs organized by the universities. For good counseling, it's crucial to clearly state what you want to learn about and try to express your questions concisely and clearly. Only then can the counselor provide the information you truly need.

MSc. Dao Minh Quan - Deputy Head of Training Department
Mr. Dao Minh Quan, M.Sc., said he was very pleased to receive many specific questions from students about the various majors offered at the university, such as Public Relations, Information Science, Religious Studies, Sino-Vietnamese Studies, Literature, History, Oriental Studies, Office Management, Philosophy, Tourism and Travel Management, Journalism, etc. This shows the great interest of students in professions in the social sciences and humanities. The questions focused on the knowledge taught in these majors, job opportunities after graduation, earning potential, scholarship opportunities, and the qualities needed to study in the social sciences and humanities... These were all very practical questions.
Professor Dao Minh Quan shared the following information: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is currently a leading training institution in the country in the field of social sciences and humanities. This stems from its strength in training in basic science disciplines, which has a tradition of over 70 years, from its highly qualified scientific staff, and from the University's continuous efforts in improving the quality of training and promoting regional and international integration in recent years. Students at the University are equipped with a comprehensive and solid foundation in culture and society, providing a basis for acquiring specialized knowledge and developing soft skills. The University has been and is currently participating in the accreditation of training quality according to AUN (Association of Southeast Asian Universities) standards. All of the above has given the University's graduates a very unique "quality": a strong foundation of knowledge, logical thinking, keen ability to perceive and evaluate phenomena, and rapid adaptation to life.
As a leading educational institution, the school has established partnerships with over 220 prestigious international universities and organizations. As a result, students receive numerous valuable scholarships and opportunities for internships and postgraduate studies abroad.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hong is providing direct advice to candidates via the hotline.
Having received numerous phone calls from candidates during the counseling session, Mr. Nguyen Van Hong noted that some students were worried about the difficulty of finding jobs and low incomes in social sciences and humanities. Mr. Hong argued that this was a one-sided and biased way of thinking. In reality, social sciences and humanities offer a wide range of attractive career paths. For example, a Literature graduate doesn't just teach; they can also work as editors, journalists, screenwriters, writers, etc. The Literature department even trains Art Studies students. Anthropology, an interdisciplinary science, has many applications in various socio-economic fields. Ultimately, job opportunities and income depend heavily on individual abilities and passion for the profession. And the reality is that as society develops, social sciences and humanities professions are increasingly valued and respected.
The next live consultation program will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 15, 2016, focusing on: "Priority policies in regular university admissions in 2016". We invite you to submit your questions and participate directly in this program.
