Given the rapidly evolving and complex Covid-19 pandemic situation in several localities, including Hanoi City, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi) requests its member and affiliated units to continue implementing many measures decisively, such as: vaccinating staff and lecturers; paying attention to the material and spiritual well-being of staff, workers, students, and postgraduate trainees.
ContentsThe Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) requests its member and affiliated units to implement the following during this period:
1. Strictly implement disease prevention and control measures as directed by the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health, the City of Hanoi, and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Absolutely avoid negligence and complacency; tighten discipline and order in complying with COVID-19 prevention and control measures and regulations of local authorities.
2. Pay attention to the material and spiritual well-being of staff, workers, students, and postgraduate trainees. Proactively propose specific solutions and plans to support staff and workers at the unit in epidemic prevention and vaccination efforts.
3. Units are required to instruct staff, employees, and students, including postgraduate students, to minimize travel to epidemic areas and to increase the use of online work methods linked to output results. Information sharing should be enhanced through group communication applications such as Zalo, Viber, VNU-office, etc. Work should be reviewed in the remaining months of the year to compare targets, adjust tasks, and focus time on developing the 2021-2022 academic year plan and the next five-year plan.
4. Promote digital transformation in teaching.
- Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has identified digital transformation as the key to innovation and improving the quality of education, and as a comprehensive solution for innovation, from curriculum structure to content, teaching methods, and learning approaches. In terms of direction, VNU will reorganize its training activities to ensure that once the Covid-19 pandemic is under control, it will continue to offer a hybrid learning model combining online and in-person instruction. Depending on the practical situation, many subjects will need to be taught online to allow lecturers, teachers, and students to teach and learn anytime, anywhere. Some subjects will combine both formats to enhance students' self-learning, research, and teamwork skills, as well as reduce training costs.
- The VNU Office and the Project Management Board will review and finalize the shared infrastructure for the entire VNU, avoiding inconsistent and scattered investment across many locations, projects, and programs; aiming for the early deployment of a shared online university for the entire VNU. Strengthen working relationships with VNPT and Viettel to cooperate in organizing online training, minimizing the cost of purchasing servers…
- Training institutions should urgently review the quality of recent online training to find solutions to improve the quality of teaching and learning; develop solutions to enhance the capacity of lecturers and students to adapt to digital transformation in teaching and learning; and prioritize funding for the development of online lectures, learning materials, and teaching.
- The Institute for Educational Quality Assurance is accelerating the commencement of training courses on digital transformation for lecturers, teachers, and students at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU). The training should be conducted online using the most modern technologies currently available (Canvas, Coursera, etc.). Simultaneously, it will propose and implement urgent and long-term tasks to improve the quality of online training throughout VNU.
- The Information and Library Center continues to develop platforms for building digital learning materials to support teaching; allowing learners to access learning materials related to subjects and majors in the training program; building database infrastructure for lecturers and teachers to access and use tools and solutions to incorporate learning materials into online teaching.
- The Planning and Finance Department will focus on reviewing the 2022 task implementation plan to guide units and allocate funds for the key task of digital transformation linked to training innovation within VNU.
- The Training Department is tasked with developing regulations for online training throughout VNU; allowing lecturers, teachers, and students to teach and learn using credit hours on VNU's online system.
- The Office of VNU continues to propose the development and upgrading of integrated technology solutions based on the principles of synchronization, interoperability, and security, ensuring that they meet the requirements in the management and operation of VNU and its member and affiliated units.
Based on the directives of the Director of VNU, member units, affiliated units, and functional departments develop implementation plans and submit them to the VNU Office for compilation and monthly reporting.
