A scientific conference on the theme "Issues in Language and Culture," organized by the Faculty of Linguistics in collaboration with the Hanoi Linguistics Association, took place on April 14, 2012, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The 2nd Student Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language was held on March 29, 2012. Twenty papers were presented in two subcommittees. This was the second time that students from the faculty participated in scientific research and presented their findings to a large audience of faculty members and students. Many international students studying at the faculty also attended and participated in lively discussions.

At the invitation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, on March 19, 2012, Professor Kikuchi Seiichi (President of the Southeast Asian Archaeological Society) and Professor Ohashi Koji (Showa Women's University, Japan) visited and gave presentations at the University.

On the morning of March 17, 2012, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) gave a presentation on the topic "Vietnam's Sovereignty over the Archipelagos in the East Sea". This presentation was part of the regular scientific activity program organized by the Center for Intercultural and Historical Studies of the Faculty of History.

The Scientific Conference on the theme "Future Research Directions" was organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with Leiden University (Netherlands) and the Australian National University over three days, March 8, 9, and 10, 2012.

The orientation workshop on developing a curriculum for the subject "Social Work with People with Disabilities" at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Social Work was held on February 28, 2012. Attendees included representatives from 17 universities nationwide, research institutions, social organizations, scientists, and experts from non-governmental organizations.

On February 23, 2012, an international conference on the theme "Regional Integration: Perspectives of the EU and ASEAN" was organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Germany). Attendees included scientists from Germany, Belgium, the United States, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector of the University – attended and delivered the opening remarks.

On the morning of February 18, 2012, at the Hanoi Grand Opera House, the Ministry of Science and Technology held the awarding ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Science and Technology in 2010.

Among the 12 Ho Chi Minh Prizes and 20 State Prizes for science and technology awarded this time, the Faculty of History received two: one Ho Chi Minh Prize for the collection of works on Vietnamese culture by the late Professor Tran Quoc Vuong, and one State Prize for the work "Thang Long - Hanoi in the 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries" by Associate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy. This is the 5th Ho Chi Minh Prize and the 4th State Prize that the faculty members of the Faculty of History have been honored to receive from the State.

Professor Nguyen Van Loi (Vietnam Institute of Lexicography and Encyclopedia) affirms and summarizes the scientific values, practical values, and scientific impact ofVietnamese phoneticsbelong toProfessor and People's Teacher Doan Thien ThuatThis project was awarded the State Prize in 2010, and the award ceremony will be held on February 18, 2012.

Professor Detlef Briesen (University of Giessen - Federal Republic of Germany) gave presentations and discussions on the topic "Development Cooperation in Regional Studies, Regional Development and Sustainability in Europe and Southeast Asia" at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, at the invitation of the Faculty of Political Science.
