A. OVERVIEW
To enhance participants' understanding of Indonesian art and culture, as well as improve their performing arts skills, the organizers will assign them to approximately 16 online classes at various art centers over a two-month period. These art centers are located in six Indonesian provinces: West Sumatra; Yogyakarta; East Java; East Kalimantan; Bali; and South Sulawesi. Participants will study Indonesian art and culture, experiencing local heritage and interacting with local artists. The integrated knowledge of theory and practice shared by the art centers will undoubtedly strengthen participants' understanding, foster cooperation, and promote people-to-people diplomacy at both regional and global levels.
B. OBJECTIVES
The IACS online program aims to help participants gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia's incredibly diverse cultural and artistic heritage. Furthermore, the program seeks to strengthen cultural cooperation through direct contact, experience, and cultural sharing among participants, which can further enhance diplomatic relations in the region and globally.
C. PARTICIPANTS
Due to limitations in online format, efficiency, and consideration of countries with different time zones, the 2021 online IACS will be limited to citizens of certain countries in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Africa.
D. TIME
This non-degree arts and culture scholarship program runs for two months, beginning on September 24, 2021, and ending on November 18, 2021. Approximately 16 online classes will be held on weekends, with schedules to be arranged later.
E. CLASSROOM LOCATION & FOUNDATION
All participating candidates will attend this course from their respective countries. All online classes will be held on the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform.
F. COURSE INFORMATION:
Scholarship recipients will explore Indonesian art and culture in general. Each art center will have its own program exploring local culture and society. For example, the East Java art and culture program, featuring traditional Javanese dance, will be offered at the East Java center. In Bali, students will learn about traditional Balinese dance. Meanwhile, at the center in South Sulawesi, applicants will also learn about the art and culture of that region.
