With funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Union (FP7 / Marie Curie Actions / COFUND), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) launched the “Postdoctoral Researcher International Experience” (PRIME) grant programme in 2014 and has since supported postdoctoral exchange programmes by providing temporary work placements at German universities for candidates, in lieu of traditional scholarships. The grant covers a 12-month exchange period abroad, followed by a 6-month “integration” period at a German university, where the recipients are employed for the entire duration of the exchange period.
