ULIS - ulis.vnuhn@... Dear Admissions Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, We are students of the University of Foreign Languages – VNU Hanoi. We have a question regarding the dual degree program regulations of VNU Hanoi: “Concurrent training in two programs: After the first year, if desired, students can register for a second program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities or another training unit within VNU Hanoi to receive two official university degrees upon graduation.” Therefore, we are writing to ask if we can register for a dual degree program in fields such as journalism and communication, Oriental studies, social work, etc., at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Or are we only allowed to register for Tourism Studies as in previous years? If so, we would like to know the registration and admission/examination procedures. Thank you sincerely.
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiHello, Currently, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is reviewing the undergraduate training programs of all its member universities. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities plans to enroll students in new dual degree programs for the 2012-2013 academic year, including: Journalism – Foreign Language, Management Science – Foreign Language, and International Studies – Foreign Language. Unless there are any changes, enrollment for these three majors will begin at the end of October 2012. The Tourism Studies – Foreign Language program will still begin enrollment in September 2012.
Doan Thi Viet Ha - doanvietha1010@... I'm applying to the Journalism department at the university. I received a national honorable mention in Literature in 2012. I would like to ask the teachers if I am eligible for priority in passing the minimum score requirement? Thank you very much!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiI understand your question is whether you will be given priority consideration for admission if you achieve the minimum score set by the Ministry of Education and Training in the 2012 university entrance exam. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, if you take all three subjects, achieve or exceed the minimum score set by the Ministry of Education and Training, and do not receive a score of 0 in any subject, then with the honorable mention in Literature from the 2012 national high school student competition, you will be admitted to the Journalism major. However, a necessary condition is that you registered for priority consideration for admission to the Journalism major at the University during the 2012 exam, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Nguyen Yen Duong - nguyenyenduong97@... Dear teachers, I have a question that I hope you can answer. If I study in the A1 group (science stream), is it possible to take the entrance exam for the Journalism Faculty at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities? If so, what score would I need to pass? I would appreciate your help. Thank you.
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiIn 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities did not recruit students for the A1 group.
Nguyen Loc - valentinenow.loveyesterday@... Hi teachers, I'd like to ask a question. I'm from Can Tho and next year I'll be studying Public Relations, but I know there are very few schools that offer specialized training in Public Relations. Could you please tell me if there are any schools in Ho Chi Minh City that offer this major? If not, can I take the entrance exam in Hanoi? Thank you!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiIn 2013, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is expected to enroll students in the Public Relations major. Official information regarding enrollment for this major will be available at the end of 2012.
I'm lam - thptcaophong2010@... This year I'm taking the university entrance exam at your school. I want to ask if, after the exam, if I receive the results and pass, I can change my registered major from Journalism to International Studies?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiThe University of Social Sciences and Humanities determines the admission scores by major, and candidates who have been admitted to a particular major must study in that major and are not allowed to transfer to another major at the University.
Tan Co Xuong - tancoxuong@... Dear Professors, I am currently majoring in Philosophy at your university. I intend to pursue a second major in Psychology, however, Psychology does not offer a double degree program. Therefore, if I apply to Psychology next year (and am accepted), would it be possible to pursue a double degree (Philosophy-Psychology)? Thank you very much!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiIn 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had its first 22 students graduate with double degrees in Tourism Studies and Journalism. Among them, two students graduated in Journalism after completing their first degree in Linguistics. You can register for a double degree as you stated if you meet the regulations. If you need further clarification, please visit the Training Department and speak with Mr. Pham Van Hue for advice.
Nguyen Thao - nh2_199x@... Next year I plan to take the entrance exam for the Faculty of Management Science. Could you please tell me what the requirements are for joining the high-quality program? Will it be based on my university entrance exam scores? Thank you.
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiDetailed information about admissions to the high-quality program in Management Science can be found on the University's website (announcements for 2012 are currently available). On August 30, 2012, the University will also have an online counseling program on its website for new students regarding admissions to high-quality training programs; we invite you to participate as well.
Pham Danh - girl_space_007@... I'd like to ask if it's true that if final-year students study Oriental Studies and do well, they will have the opportunity to study abroad for one month?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiIt's not like you get a one-month study abroad scholarship in your final year if you do well academically. In the Oriental Studies major, usually around the end of the second year, if students are academically strong, have good foreign language skills, and are actively involved in group activities, they have many opportunities to receive scholarships for 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year of study abroad in South Korea or Japan.
Quynh - chanlongthientu9xx@... Dear advisors, I understand that if I don't get accepted into my chosen major but meet the following conditions: 1) My exam score is at or above the minimum score set by Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and 2) I wish to enroll in other majors at the university, then I can register to transfer to one of the remaining majors. So, if many candidates register for the same major with remaining slots, will the university select candidates based on their scores from highest to lowest? Could you please guide me on how to prepare the application for this transfer? Thank you!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiHello, on May 4th, 2012, the Ministry of Education and Training issued document No. 2636/BGDĐT-KTKĐCLGD regarding the guidance on admission applications for the 2012 university and college entrance exams. According to this guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will NO LONGER conduct admissions in the manner you mentioned, but will instead conduct supplementary admissions as announced on August 10th, 2012 (please see here: http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/xet-tuyen-bo-sung-dai-hoc-nam-2012/6277).
Page 93 - bemapdatinh_yeuanh@... I would like to ask where I should submit my appeal for a re-evaluation of my math and literature exams, since I had to take the exams at the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiPlease submit your appeal application to the University of Foreign Languages, VNU Hanoi. The deadline for submission is August 15, 2012.
Pham Lien - phamlienvp@... Dear teachers! I am a student at the Academy of Journalism and this year I am taking the entrance exam for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. I would like to ask if I can study at both universities simultaneously. And if I am accepted, can I submit photocopies of my application? I would appreciate your answer. Thank you very much.
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiUpon admission and enrollment, students must submit the original and notarized copies of their high school transcript, high school diploma, or high school graduation certificate for verification by the school. Regarding studying at two schools simultaneously, you should inquire at the Academy of Journalism and Communication.
Pham Trang - xichlokhongbienso@... Dear teachers! I have received my university entrance exam results, and I would like to request a re-evaluation of my exam. Could you please tell me if, after my re-evaluation, the exam is graded again without any errors, will any points be deducted or will the original score be retained?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiIf there's no mistake, but points are deducted, does that mean the school is at fault?
Nguyen Khanh Linh - hafnium_64b@... Dear teacher, I checked the school's website and only saw that the school sent admission letters and exam results to candidates who took the C-block exam. So when will candidates who took the D-block exam receive their results?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiThe D group is under the responsibility of the University of Foreign Languages, and as far as I know, the University of Foreign Languages began sending out admission notices for the D group on August 13, 2012.
Pham Dieu Huong - p3p3o_no2@... Dear teacher, I participated in the university entrance exam for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, block C, and I failed my first choice. I only got 18.5 and I want to switch to the Philosophy department. So, could you tell me if my chances of getting into my second choice, the Philosophy department, are high? If not, which department should I choose? Thank you very much. Bach - Snowice_FrozenSky@... Hello teacher. This year I didn't take the first choice exam for the university because I hadn't decided what to study or what I liked at first... But now I want to register for the university in about 3 majors: Oceanography, Sociology, and Tourism Studies. My university entrance exam scores are 17.5 for block A and 18 for block D. I wonder if I have a chance to get into those majors? And I would like to know more information about future job opportunities in those three fields, is that possible?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiYour score is not low and you are eligible for supplementary admission to the 8 majors that have supplementary admissions. On August 20, 2012, the University will have an online counseling program on this website regarding supplementary admissions. Remember to participate to get your questions answered.
Yen - yen_rubi_94@... Dear teachers, I applied to the Tourism and Travel Management department at your university but didn't get enough points to be admitted. Can I transfer to another department if there are still vacancies? Is this transfer handled automatically by the university, or do I need to register? If I need to register, what procedures are required?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiThe university does not allow automatic transfers; you must register for supplementary admissions like other candidates. Please carefully review the instructions in the announcement here: http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/xet-tuyen-bo-sung-dai-hoc-nam-2012/6277
Thuy - tranpthuy23@... This year I took the entrance exam for the Oriental Studies major (D1 group). I got 19.5 points including bonus points but didn't get into the department. According to the school's new admissions information, candidates who don't get into their registered major can transfer to another major with available slots. I see that the Linguistics major still has available slots for supplementary admission and I have enough points to be considered. So, teachers, I would like to ask if I can transfer to this major or if I still have to submit a supplementary admission application? Thank you. Trieu Thuy - trieu.thithu.thuy.213@... Teachers, I would like to ask, this year I registered to take the entrance exam for the school but didn't have enough points to get into my registered major, but my exam score was enough to get into another department within the school. So, I would like to ask what I need to do to be allowed to be considered for admission to another department? Tran An - tranxuanan1992@... Dear teachers, as far as I know, if I don't get accepted into the major I applied for and there's another major in the school that still has vacancies for supplementary admissions and I meet the supplementary admission requirements, then I can apply for supplementary admission to that major. So, I would like to ask about the regulations and procedures for applying for supplementary admission. Hai - hajhlls@... I took the entrance exam for the Faculty of Oriental Studies but didn't pass. I want to switch to another major at the school, how should I do that? Nguyen Thuy Dung - thuydung_2910@... Dear teachers, this year I took the entrance exam for the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the school. I feel the results weren't as expected and I think I don't have a chance to become a student of the faculty. I want to ask if I get enough points to get into another faculty at the school, will I be given priority to be admitted to that faculty or will I be considered for the second round of admissions like other normal candidates? I really hope you can help me. Thank you!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiI registered for supplementary admissions to majors that have supplementary admissions. The announcement is available here: http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/xet-tuyen-bo-sung-dai-hoc-nam-2012/6277
Dear teachers, regarding the Psychology Department, specifically block B, if after the first round of admissions the number of applicants who do not enroll is too low, will the school lower the cutoff score or accept second-choice applicants?
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiThe university has no intention of lowering the admission cutoff score under any circumstances. As for the Psychology program, it currently has enough admitted students, so there will be no additional recruitment.
Thanh Hà - ha_ruoi_1308@... Dear teachers, I just took the university entrance exam at your school. I scored 17 points in the Social Work major (Block C). However, the school's other majors require 19 points. I would like to ask if I will receive extra points because I am in priority group 01 and from Zone 2? I hope you can answer my question soon so that I can have the opportunity to become a student at your school. Thank you sincerely!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiThe cutoff score for the Social Work major in Block C in 2012 for high school graduates in Region 3 was 19 points. Based on Article 33 of the 2012 Regulations on University and College Admissions (which states that "the difference in admission scores between two consecutive groups of applicants is 1.0 point, and between two consecutive regions is 0.5 points"), you can determine if you passed, as you didn't specify whether your 17 points included priority points. If that's the sum of the scores from the three subjects, without considering priority points, then you passed.
Hang - won_sung_hyung@... Hello teachers. I'm taking the university entrance exam next year. I plan to apply to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and major in Oriental Studies. I'd like to ask about the admission requirements and the curriculum. I'm still a bit unclear about it. This major has 5 specializations, and I have to complete the first semester of my first year before my grades are used to determine my specialization, right? So, what will I be studying in the first semester of my first year? I would appreciate your answers and advice. Thank you!
MSc. Dinh Viet HaiIn their first semester, students majoring in Oriental Studies will study general subjects such as the Principles of Marxism-Leninism, History of the East, Fundamentals of Vietnamese Culture, English, etc.
