On December 6, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the Congress of Delegates of the Sports Association for the term 2012-2017.

On December 6, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the Congress of Delegates of the Sports Association for the term 2012-2017.Attending the Congress were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh – Vice Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Gia Lam – former Vice Rector of the University, former Chairman of the Sports Association for the term 2004-2012; leaders of Faculties/Departments, functional offices under the University and more than 40 delegates who are members of clubs: Football, Table Tennis, Badminton, Tennis, Aerobic… The Congress of Delegates of the University Sports Association for the term 2012-2017 aimed to evaluate the results achieved in the term 2004-2012 and set out the direction of activities and tasks of the Association for the new term 2012-2017. During the past term 2004-2012, the University Sports Association achieved many outstanding achievements: organizing many in-class and out-of-class sports activities for staff and students of the University; establishing sports teams to participate in competitions outside the University. In particular, the University Sports Association, in coordination with the Department of Physical Education, proactively proposed to the University's Board of Directors to allow the introduction of several new subjects into the curriculum, such as Aerobics and Dancesport. The University Sports Association participated in over 70% of the total number of sports competitions organized by the Hanoi University and Professional Sports Association, the Vietnam University Sports Association, and the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and won many awards. Notable examples include: the Football Club winning the 2005 Vietnam National University Football Tournament, second place in 2008, and third place in 2010; participating in the Vietnam National University Open Tennis Tournament held in April 2012, and the "Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Union of the University of Natural Sciences" Tennis Tournament in October 2012. Faculty and students participated in the University Badminton Tournament in Hong Kong… Extracurricular sports activities for students are always well-organized and well-cared for, with many outstanding sports activities attracting many student associations and students: 500 students participated in the “Run for Peace” and 8 students participated in the Hanoi New Newspaper Run at the Thanh Xuan District level; organized men's and women's football tournaments; the Humanities Student Aerobics Open Tournament; the Arts-Culture-Beauty Student Tournament organized by the Ministry of Education and the General Department of Physical Education and Sports… Building on the achievements of the 2012-2017 term, the University Sports Association continues to develop plans and coordinate with the Center for Physical Education and Sports, VNU Hanoi to implement activities and training programs to improve the health of faculty, staff, and students. The Association will also continue to strengthen existing clubs and establish new ones. Simultaneously, we will increase participation in competitions such as Football, Table Tennis, Tennis, and Badminton organized by VNU, departments, and other units. We will organize the University-wide Sports Festival with 5 competitive sports: Athletics, Football, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Aerobics.

Speaking at the Congress, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh emphasized: Physical education and sports activities are indispensable for a university. Participating in sports activities will provide faculty, staff, and students with opportunities to improve their physical fitness, ensuring their health for teaching, learning, and scientific research. On behalf of the university leadership, the Vice Rector thanked the previous Executive Committee of the University Sports Association for their valuable contributions to the Association's work. The Vice Rector hoped that the new Executive Committee would continue to promote the spirit of sports and develop physical education and sports activities for the university's faculty, staff, and students.
