Reception hall for international guests
This is an opportunity for Southeast Asian and international psychologists to exchange academic knowledge, share experiences, and contribute to the development of psychology in the region and internationally in accordance with the culture, economy, society, and history of each country and ethnicity, in order to make people happier and society can develop in an increasingly sustainable direction.
The workshop also helps to enhance the role and increase the contribution of psychology in social life; improve the capacity of Vietnamese psychologists in particular, and Southeast Asia in general through training courses on modern psychological research/practice techniques, methods and theories, suitable for practical requirements.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh delivered a welcome speech at the conference.
Speaking at the Workshop, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, said:
“The more developed the society is, the more social problems we have to face. To solve those problems, there are not always enough policies or administrative measures. No matter how good the administrative measures are, they cannot solve the current social psychological problems.
To solve such problems, we need more professional, qualified, highly qualified psychologists. Therefore, it can be said that psychologists are the most important “social doctors” to cure the most serious diseases of society.
The conference attracted the participation of the world's leading psychologists from 35 countries.
After 30 years of renovation, Vietnam has developed from the war into a middle-income country, and has achieved great success in economic development. However, there are still many social problems. Without solving the problem of the people, other values become meaningless.
As President Ho Chi Minh said: “Nothing is more precious than independence, freedom and happiness”. Since 1995, as a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Vietnam has committed and made every effort to build the ASEAN community, a community for the people, and strive for a “caring society”.
“In the past three years, Psychology has been one of the top choices for candidates applying to our University. I hope and believe that the cooperation between the Vietnamese psychology community and the region and the world will be strengthened and enhanced to build a more stable and prosperous world,” shared Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh.
The diverse discussions in the workshop revolved around questions related to human happiness, health, sustainable development in different contexts, fields, environments, in the diversity and constant change of culture and society.
Delegates from various countries took souvenir photos at the hall where the official opening session of the conference took place.
