Closing Ceremony of the 1st Southeast Asian Psychology Conference

On December 1, 2017, the 1st Southeast Asian Psychology Conference closed at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities after 3 days of official work.

 

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Hao (Deputy Director of the Institute of Psychology - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, General Secretary of the Workshop) on behalf of the Organizing Committee summarized the contents discussed at the Workshop.

The Organizing Committee received 454 abstracts, followed by 149 complete reports from scientists from 35 countries. Delegates from Vietnam came from 83 institutes and organizations nationwide. There were 5 roundtables discussing plans and trends of regional and international cooperation to promote the development of Psychology in Vietnam as well as in Southeast Asia. 13 keynote speeches, 250 papers, 37 speeches and specialized conferences were all highly appreciated by delegates for their scientific quality and new research ideas.

The conference not only helped bring Vietnamese psychologists closer together, but also connected psychologists in Southeast Asia and the world. Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Hao would like to thank the organizations that have made efforts and cooperated to create the success of this event: International Association of Applied Psychology, International Association of Cross-Cultural Psychology, International Examination Committee, Chinese Psychological Society and Australian Psychological Society. The Organizing Committee also especially thanked the tireless efforts of the group of Vietnamese collaborators and volunteers who participated in supporting the event.

Professor Janel Gauthier (President of the International Association of Applied Psychology) commented: I believe that this conference will become a milestone in the history of Psychology in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The conference has met all expectations of the Organizing Committee and the participating scientists, from the criteria of the number of international delegates attending to the quality of the main speeches, presentations; the diversity in the discussion content in the subcommittees, roundtable conferences.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Chairman of the Conference) expressed his thanks to the partners and scientists who enthusiastically contributed to the success of the Conference. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities - a leading university with a long tradition in research and training in social sciences and humanities in Vietnam - is honored to become a destination for discussions and academic sharing at the international level. The Conference also proved that: with ideas and solidarity and cooperation of Vietnamese and international scientists, it is completely possible to successfully organize scientific events that are important to the development and cooperation of the scientific community in Vietnam, the region and the world. The Rector also expressed his special thanks to Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga (Second Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in China) and Prof. Buxin Han - the first people to connect and propose the organization of the 1st Southeast Asian Psychology Conference at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
