At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh briefly introduced the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasizing the goal of internationalization and promoting relations with foreign partners. The University has signed cooperation agreements with nearly 300 different partners around the world. However, relations with partners in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are still underdeveloped. Therefore, the Rector hopes that the Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Vietnam will connect the University with universities in the neighboring country. Especially in promoting the Korean Studies training program at the University, and moving towards training in Vietnamese Studies in North Korea.
In response, Ambassador Kim Myong Gil emphasized that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and North Korea is a traditional relationship, built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung long ago. The relationship between the two sides has much potential for development, including in the fields of cultural and educational exchanges. He pledged that the Embassy of the DPRK will create the best conditions to promote cooperation activities between universities on the other side and the School.
Next, in a spirit of friendship and openness, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh and Ambassador Kim Myong Gil directly discussed a number of issues such as the North Korean education system, the political and security situation on the Korean peninsula, inter-Korean relations, and Vietnam-North Korea bilateral relations. Representatives of the two sides also agreed to maintain more frequent interactions through activities such as organizing seminars and talks on bilateral relations. The Department of Cooperation and Development will be the contact point of the University.
