"Swallows of Childhood - Connecting Dreams"

Understanding this, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2015), the Student Union and Student Association of the Faculty of Archival Studies & Office Management, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) organized a very meaningful volunteer program called:Swallows of Childhood - Connecting Dreams"At the Vietnam Friendship Children's Village - Xuan Phuong - Tu Liem - Hanoi on Sunday morning, May 17, 2015. The volunteer program was an opportunity for teachers and students of the Archival Studies & Office Management Department to pay tribute to and remember the generations of ancestors who fell and sacrificed their lives to protect national independence; at the same time, to express their feelings of solidarity and sharing with the community, visiting and encouraging children who are victims of Agent Orange."

Faculty and students from the entire department. Although it only lasted for one morning, thanks to the enthusiasm of the volunteers, the program was a great success and left a lasting impression not only on the staff, veterans, and children at the children's village, but also as a profound lesson and a wonderful experience for each volunteer.

From 7 a.m., the volunteer community in their blue shirts filled the Vietnam Friendship Children's Village. The volunteers were delighted to receive such genuine affection from the children upon arrival. It seemed that these simple acts of kindness gave the volunteers the strength to perform their assigned tasks well.

Between 7:00 and 8:45, groups of volunteers cleaned the children's village grounds, decorated the hall, and visited the veteran soldiers.

Comrade Vu Dinh Phong, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management, led the delegation to visit the veterans. On behalf of all the volunteers, he expressed the deep gratitude of the younger generation to their ancestors who dedicated their lives to the cause of national liberation. In the small but incredibly warm room 104, songs were sung to reminisce about a glorious time of struggle. In response to the sincere feelings of the young generation of the Faculty of Archival Studies & Office Management, Mr. Nguyen Ba Bon, a veteran from Tan Hung, Lang Giang, Bac Giang, presented his comrades and volunteers with poems and songs he composed about love for his homeland and family. Ms. Luong Ngoc Bich, representing the veterans currently residing and resting at the youth village, conveyed her trust, best wishes, encouragement, and advice to the volunteers to strive in their studies to contribute to the building and development of the country. The meeting left a lasting impression and served as a "profound political lesson" for each volunteer—as Comrade Vu Dinh Phong put it.

With the enthusiasm of youth, the volunteers sang volunteer songs with heartfelt love for life and people, and raised their hands to their hearts, making a promise:I will write the story of my own life."Tears of empathy, love, and gratitude fell on the faces of the young people. Certainly, the volunteer trip left a lasting impression on everyone's hearts."
